During the Top 250 we had some guys standout that we never really get to see a lot of, in this article we take a deeper look into what those guy bring to the table. Also talk about the impact they will have on their high school teams as the season slowly approaches.

[player_tooltip player_id="1285115" first="Oluwafisayo" last="Samuels"]- Northfield

[player_tooltip player_id="1285115" first="Oluwafisayo" last="Samuels"] was a player that caught me by surprise with his play during Top 250 Expo this past Sunday. He is a high energy player that is capable of doing it all. Oluwafisayo excelled in pick and roll play, by making all the right reads. He even initiated the fast break multiple times when guards were being overplayed. I still think his best skill shown was how he was able to defend all five positions on the court without any hesitation and at a high level. With Northfield being in a rebuilding stage Oluwafisayo should be a key piece this season that continues to learn.

[player_tooltip player_id="1285178" first="Geovanni" last="velarde"]- Faith Christian

[player_tooltip player_id="1285178" first="Geovanni" last="velarde"]’s game has been on the rise for the last year and he just continues to get better each showing. The shifty playmaker was all over the floor during Top 250 Expo and definitely made his presence known. Geovanni got into the lane and finished amongst the bigs whenever he wanted to for most of the day. That only led to the opposing players solely focusing on him, allowing him to find his teammates for open shots. Heading into the season Geovanni is definitely a name to know as he looks to take his team deep into the state tournament and from what we saw, he can get it done.

[player_tooltip player_id="1285204" first="Calvin" last="Doyle"]-Brighton

Calvin Boyle had a great showing at Top 250 Expo. His team was well rounded and he acted as the perfect glue guy. Especially on the defensive side of the ball. He played passing lanes well and was very vocal throughout the day. Calvin was also very effective without the ball as he moved into the cracks of the defense to find himself some easy baskets. One thing he showed was an improved jumper from beyond the arc. He looked confident and was able to knock down shots at a high level. Another side of his game that has taken a huge leap is his ability to put the ball on the ground and get to the rim. We saw two and three dribble combination moves that got him some easy layups.

[player_tooltip player_id="1285205" first="Master" last="Diggins"]- Faith Christian

Master is a high IQ guard that had some great reads on Sunday. He is patient enough to let the play develop but also smart enough to know when and how to attack it. His length makes it easier for him to finish over most guards. Defensively, he picked up full court and times and forced other ball handlers to give it up early. Master wasn’t a player that we got to see a lot of last season but with Faith Christian losing some players he should see an increase in minutes.

[player_tooltip player_id="1284480" first="Ryder" last="McConnell"]- Sterling

[player_tooltip player_id="1284480" first="Ryder" last="McConnell"] is as pure of a shooter as there is with his quick release and he doesn’t need much space to get it off. He is constantly on the move on offense and that makes him the focal point of the defense, All that does is open up shots for teammates. On the ball, Ryder was able to create for himself and catch some defenders by surprise with his speed. If he can keep up this level of play Sterling should be in for another good season.
