Basketball season is coming soon as the final week of September approaches. The upcoming hoops season should be filled with excitement as players fight for sectional titles, group championships and the coveted Tournament of Champions title. The state is filled with talent and there are under the radar candidates to make the All-State team. Here are the top sleeper candidates to make an All-State team.

[player_tooltip player_id="1025905" first="Jamarques" last="Lawrence"], 6’2 SG Roselle Catholic 2022

The Lions look to be one of the teams to beat in the Garden State this season and they have a dynamic guard duo in [player_tooltip player_id="850752" first="Simeon" last="Wilcher"] and Lawrence. The latter is a knockdown shooter from distance who does not need a lot of space to get his shot off and can hit triples in bunches. Lawrence is more than just a shooter as he can also beat his man off the bounce and finish around the basket. He moves exceptionally well off the ball and is an underrated passer. Lawrence is primed for a big senior season, which could put him on an All-State team this season.

[player_tooltip player_id="850757" first="Cian" last="Medley"], 6’0 PG Camden 2023

The High figures to be in the Tournament of Champions come the end of the season and Medley’s play at the point will be a reason why. The 6’0 floor general plays with poise and is not rattled by on-ball pressure. Medley makes smart decisions with the ball in his hands and knows how to set his teammates up in the half court. He has a good handle and moves his feet on the defensive end. Medley’s decision-making and composure are the reasons that could land him on an All-State at the end of the season.

[player_tooltip player_id="1018572" first="Sean" last="Logan"], 6’10 PF Westfield 2022

Logan’s stock shot up over the summer and is looking to carry it over into the 2021-22 season. The lanky 6’10 forward runs the floor hard, setting himself up for easy buckets in transition. Logan is comfortable on the perimeter as he has an underrated handle and a nice release on his jumper. He skies for rebounds on both ends of the floor and is one of the top shot-blockers in the state. Logan is a two-way, stretch-four prospect who is ready for a big senior season for Westfield.

Elliott Cadeau, 6’2 PG Bergen Catholic 2024

Cadeau may only be a sophomore, but he still has the potential to make an All-State team this season. The 6’2 guard has a good handle, which he uses to get into the lane and create plays. Cadeau can also hit jumpers from distance and is capable of shooting either off the catch or dribble. He plays solid on-ball defense and has a good chemistry with senior guards [player_tooltip player_id="850662" first="Will" last="Richardson"] and [player_tooltip player_id="850683" first="Julian" last="Brown"]. Cadeau recently picked up an offer from St. John’s and is ready to make a huge impact on the Garden State this season.

[player_tooltip player_id="1013067" first="Sebastian" last="Robinson"], 6’2 CG Elizabeth 2023

The Minutemen are in the hunt for a Group 4 title and Robinson could be the one to help get them over the hump. The 6’2 guard attacks the basket hard and is unafraid of drawing contact. Robinson is capable of running the offense effectively and can knock open jumpers from distance. He is a strong rebounder for a guard and makes plays on the defensive. Senior [player_tooltip player_id="1147089" first="Etienne" last="Richelieu"] is another player to watch as Elizabeth looks to make a deep postseason run in 2021-22.
