SubscribeWelcome to Erlanger, Kentucky, population 19,000 and home of EJ Walker, one of the top players in the country in the Class of 2025. This spring and summer, EJ was invited to play up with the 2024s on Wildcat Select, a grassroots program that is Adidas 3SSB. The opportunity enabled him to challenge his game with older and more mature players.
While playing for Wildcats Select, EJ received an offer from Youngstown State University. While playing on the Adidas 3SSB Circuit, EJ displayed maturity and he provided a little bit of everything as he was asked to defend, rebound, and make some open shots when they became available. EJ did a great job of letting the game come to him.

EJ Walker Class of 2025 (Kentucky)
We caught up with EJ Walker and had a great conversation:
What have you been doing to get ready for the High School season?
I’ve been putting in work with my trainer James Millen. I’ve also been lifting weights with my high school team. Earlier this year I was playing AAU with my club team called Phenoms before I got picked up by Wildcat Select 15U Adidas 3SSB.
What are some things you learned this past grassroots season?
I learned that I need to live in the gym, train, and continue to improve on my skill, strength, and agility.
What are some aspects of your game that you are working on?
I have been working on my ball-handling and my ability to score off the bounce. I’ve also been working on my deep 3 and ability to pull up off the dribble. I am trying to be more aggressive when attacking the basket which is a need that I will have to develop playing varsity and AAU. level.
Who do you pattern your game after?
Cam Johnson (Phoenix Suns) ability to knock down the corner 3 and stretch the floor, Lebron James (Lakers) ability to pass and see the floor, and Russell Westbrook (Lakers) ability to aggressively attack the basket.
What are you looking forward to now that you are entering high school?
I am looking forward to dominating as a freshman and becoming one of the best players in the 9th Region and in the state of Kentucky.
Does he have any offers or interest?
Yes, D1 offer from Youngstown State University.
How would you describe EJ’s game as his high school coach?
EJ is a player that can do everything. His best attribute is passing because he is very unselfish, but he can score on all three levels. He can post up back to the basket or face-up, hit the mid-range, knock down the three-ball, and take his man off the bounce from the wing. He is a great rebounder and can guard multiple positions on the floor. EJ has a high IQ for the game and is very coachable. Now he has become a gym rat which will only help him reach his goals. – Coach Michael Walker
