The Neumann-Goretti Saints held their first open gym of the 2021-2022 school year. Coaches from Temple, St. Joe’s, Michigan, Ohio St, Wagner, and Delaware were present as the team ran shooting drills, and played 3x3 half court and 5x5 full court. Even with a couple players gone for football season, the Saints showed they are loaded with youth and experience at every level.

Guards:

[player_tooltip player_id="991316" first="Masud" last="Stewart"] (6’1 G 2022)

Sud is their leader at the point of attack on defense and hit threes from NBA range. Wagner is making a high priority and he plans to take an official visit there soon. He also holds offers from Holy Cross, St. Peter’s, and Rider, and is receiving interest from Binghamton and Columbia.

Aamir Hurst (6’1 G 2022)

Still only 17 years old and an under the radar prospect, Aamir made plays on both ends of the court. He’s going to be right in the mix for a starting role amongst the more well-known guards on the roster. D2s are showing interest and more will be on him as the season gets under way.

[player_tooltip player_id="1116063" first="Robert" last="Wright III"] (6’0 G 2022)

Rob grew over the summer yet still plays low to the ground. He got two feet in the paint wherever he need to in the flow of the offense. Several high and mid majors have taken an interest in him and have him at the top of their 2024 recruiting boards.

[player_tooltip player_id="1123910" first="Khaafiq" last="Myers"] | 5’11 G 2024

This kid is special passer because of his vision and execution. He threaded the needle in their 3x3 and 5x5 games. He also showed off his bounce with some windmill dunks in warms ups. Khaafiq currently holds an offer from North Texas.

Wings & Bigs:

[player_tooltip player_id="1279647" first="Sultan" last="Adewale"] (6’8 F 2023)

This was Sultan’s first public workout since joining the NG program and he fit right in. His face up game caught some by surprise as he moved fluidly up and down the court.

[player_tooltip player_id="1153953" first="Luke" last="Bevilacqua"] (6’10 F/C 2024)

Teammates with Williams and Wright III on Team Final 15u, Luke provides additional size and skill for the Saints. He looked comfortable on the perimeter running dribble handoffs and rolling to the rim.

[player_tooltip player_id="1123886" first="Amir" last="Williams"] (6’5 W 2024)

Amir, Luke, and Sultan will likely be the rotation at the 4 & 5 spots this season but Mir can easily play the 3 if they want to go big. He illustrated catch & shoot ability from three to go along with his hyper athleticism. From what he showed over the summer and during the open gym, he has the potential to be the top defender in the Catholic League as just a sophomore.
