Continue ReadingThe class of 2028 has officially started to put a mark on themselves now being in the 6th grade and Prep Hoops Next will start to see the 2028 class more and more in the coming months. We got off to a great start by identifying some promising 2028 prospects this weekend in Indianapolis. Below are three takeaways that we were able to identify during our time at MSHTV Camp…
Erick Dampier Jr. Is Next Up In the Dampier Family
Already standing at 6’4, the son of former NBA player, Eric Dampier, is already showing a lot of potential due to his size. Dampier was the biggest 6th grader we saw this weekend which allowed him to dominate in the low post. Dampier was playing a major role this weekend on both sides of the ball but offensively is where he really stood out. He was extremely efficient around the rim and the top offensive post player we saw from the 2028 class. Dampier is set to make noise in the Mississippi as he has officially entered the middle school hoops scene being in 6th grade.
Josh Huggins Stands Out
Huggins, who is from Tennessee, was another 6th grader that immediately stood out because of his size. Huggins, who is from Tennessee, is currently listed at 6’1. Huggins showed a nice skillset being able to score on multiple hook shots and finished a lot of baskets with a go to spin move to separate himself from his defenders. There is an obvious size advantage he holds against his peers and he used that to dominate this past weekend in Indianapolis.
Ethan Vahl Is A Top Guard In 2028
This was my second time seeing Vahl in the past few months and once again he did not disappoint. Vahl is a 5’5 guard from Illinois and has been one of the top guards I have seen in the 2028 class thus far. Vahl is a skilled ball handler that can pass the ball at a high level but can also score when needed. Vahl, who is from Montgomery, Illinois, is definitely one of the more known prospects from the 2028 class and was a no-brainer for the 2028 All Star Game at MSHTV Camp.
