The only category in which Dix didn’t make the top 10 that we counted down was 3-point shooting, and he’s damn good there too. The future high-major wing stuffs the stat sheet across the board, and he’s a high IQ defender who understands angles, plays passing lanes well, and uses his length effectively on that end of the floor.

2.) 2022 [player_tooltip player_id="784974" first="Jamison" last="Gruber"] (Council Bluffs Lincoln) - 55

The other piece of the Lynx’s dynamic backcourt, Gruber is a strong on-ball defender who does a great job moving his feet and using his quick hands to take the ball away from opposing ball-handlers. He’s been one of the most improved two-way players in the state over the last 18 months and will be looking to help lead the Lynx to a state title this winter.

3.) 2022 [player_tooltip player_id="682265" first="Trey" last="Campbell"] (Cedar Falls) - 52

The future Northern Iowa guard is one of the fastest guards in the state, and he does a great job using his lateral quickness and length to create all sorts of chaos on the defensive end. He’s as quick as anyone with the ball in his hands, and when he forces a turnover, he turns it into an easy bucket on the other end in the blink of an eye.

4.) 2022 [player_tooltip player_id="784975" first="Corey" last="Miner"] (Mason City) - 43

Miner is a dominant scorer for the Mohawks, but the senior guard is also a solid defender who picks and chooses his spots wisely when he’s jumping passing lanes and turning defense into offense.

5.) 2023 [player_tooltip player_id="956873" first="Drew" last="Kingery"] (Indianola) - 42

Kingery is another future Division I wing who does a great job utilizing his length to his benefit on the defensive end. At 6-5, he has excellent length and he knows when to take his chances on the defensive end and jump passing lanes. He’s a solid all-around defender for the Indians and one of the best pure scoring threats in the state.

6.) 2023 [player_tooltip player_id="1167668" first="Keavian" last="Hayes"] (Sioux City West) - 42

Hayes is an athletic guard who moves his feet well on the defensive end and turns defense into offense in a hurry. He led the Wolverines in scoring last season (17.4), and his ability to impact the game on both ends of the floor will be key for a West team that is looking to break through in the MRAC.

7.) 2022 [player_tooltip player_id="962490" first="Eli" last="Raridon"] (Valley) - 40

The future Notre Dame tight end is a hyper-athletic forward with great hands. He uses his physicality and athleticism to dominate the paint on both ends of the floor, and he takes advantage of the loose ball-handling of some of the forwards that he matches up against to rank highly on this list. He's one of the best finishers in the state on the break.

8.) 2022 [player_tooltip player_id="682279" first="Tamin" last="Lipsey"] (Ames) - 39

The future Iowa State lead guard is one of the best two-way players in the state. A dynamic athlete, he moves his feet incredibly well, has great hands, and is a big, physical guard who pairs his quickness with his strength to be a fantastic defender.

9.) 2022 [player_tooltip player_id="962614" first="Ryan" last="Crandall"] (Ankeny) - 37

Also a standout defender on the gridiron, Crandall does a good job using his athleticism and length to make an impact defensively on the hardwood. The 6-2 wing is a versatile defender who plays strong defense both on-and-off the ball.

10.) 2022 [player_tooltip player_id="962667" first="Amarion" last="Davis"] (Burlington) - 34

An athletic 6-2 wing, Davis was fantastic for the Grayhounds last year, leading the team in scoring and rebounding while posting 67-40-72 shooting splits. He'll have a chance to have a breakout year for Burlington following a number of graduation losses.
