Prep Hoops Missouri was in the house at the Center of St Louis for the second day of The Last Run, which was put on by Threat Hoops. The highlight of the day were the three exciting championship games in the 17U, 16U and 15U divisions. Here are a few observations from Sunday’s championship action.

17U Final Goes Overtime

There was plenty of athleticism on the floor and plenty of intensity as the St Louis Warriors defeated TruVision 64-58 in a overtime thriller. A tip in by 6’5 2021 Carlos Bell of Tru Vision sent the game into overtime.

A pair of early buckets by the Warriors gave them the breathing room that they needed for the win. They were led by 6’5 2022 wing [player_tooltip player_id="1045827" first="Braxton" last="Stacker"] with 20 points. He is a dynamic athlete that mixed in perimeter jumpers an emphatic slam dunks. 6’2 2022 guard [player_tooltip player_id="984503" first="Damien" last="Mayo"] Jr added 18 points. The athletic Mayo added 18 points. He jest announced that he would play his senior year at Link Year Prep.

TruVision was led by 2021 guard [player_tooltip player_id="824194" first="Phillip" last="March"] with 14 points and 6’4 2022 [player_tooltip player_id="824118" first="Cole" last="Farrell"] with 14. March is a tough-minded combo guard with deep shooting range while Farrell is an explosive athlete with improved skill level.

STL Stars edge Ball So Hard in 16U Final

In another spirited championship game, The St Louis Stars defeated Ball So Hard 58-52. 6’2 2023 guard Tyler King scored a game/high 25 points to lead the Warriors. He was the breakout player of the tournament. Cameron Stovall, a 6’5 2023 forward, had 15 points and several terrific blocked shots. He was banging opposing shots off the backboard on a consistent basis.

Ball So Hard was led by 6’1 2033 [player_tooltip player_id="1070111" first="Barry" last="Thomas"] with 17 points. He has excellent quickness to go along with his slashing ability and 3-point shot. Smooth 6’4 2023 [player_tooltip player_id="1167329" first="Javaris" last="Moye"] had 11 points while explosive 6’3 2023 [player_tooltip player_id="1161319" first="Steven" last="Bonner"] added 10 points

15U Final Goes Down to Final Shot

In the 15U championship game, All Things Retro survived a potential game winner in the closing seconds to post a 39-38 win over the SFC Ballers. Looking good All Things Retro was 6’4 2024 Mekhi Barrington, who scored 16 points. He has a solid body that helps him bang around inside and a nice touch from 3-point range. [player_tooltip player_id="1160843" first="Caden" last="Casey"] of SFC Ballers is a 6’0 2024 combo guard with electric handles, good slashing skills and a mid range jumper.
