The Boys Elite championship game got off to a wild start, with Fairfax jumping out to an early-lead before a second-half push by City put them in the driver’s seat. Notable standouts from the usual suspects, some unsung heroes performing at a high level, great coaching and atmosphere, buzzer beaters- this game lived up to the hype. We look into some of the names from the championship game as well as the all star game that followed. Let’s get to it!
‘26 6’2 Jake Bahr– Fairfax
Bahr absolutely dominated the paint for Fairfax early in the championship game, scoring or assisting on all of his team’s made baskets before foul trouble relegated him to the bench with his team up 20+ with a few minutes remaining in the first half. Bahr finishes well with either hand around the basket, rebounds the ball well, can shoot out to 18 feet, and plays the game with an exceptionally-high motor. Defensively, he’s capable of racking up weak-side blocks with superior defensive IQ and timing.
‘26 6’4 Zyion Chase- City
Chase came alive in the second half of the title game, his rebounding and scoring around the basket turbo-charged a late run from his City PYBL team to retake the lead and eventually win the game. His defensive timing and length altered a rack of shots around the basket leading to fastbreak buckets at the other end. On the block, he knows his game- one or two dribbles and a spin baseline or middle to convert a high-percentage look at the basket. A physical presence down low, he exploded up and through the contact but also showed some finesse with a spin and reverse finish out of double-teams sent his way. His last-second three at the buzzer swished through the net to give City their second PYBL Championship of the day.
’26 6′ SG Jemon Price– Fairfax
Shooter with good length and athleticism absolutely caught fire for Fairfax, hitting 4 threes in the first half to build up a 20-point lead for his team. Price gets into his shot quickly, with good form and release point leading to great arc and touch on his jumper. Price also showed the ability to hit a midrange pull-up and finish at the rim- hitting a runner in the lane at the end of regulation to send the game into overtime.
’26 5’10 Karon Bailey-Alexandria
Very shifty, aggressive guard gets to his spots inside and outside of the arc. Bailey can shoot off of movement, behind screens, face-up jumpers, pull-up midrange- there’s good versatility to his game offensively. A tight handle allows him to maneuver through spaces and set up shots for himself and others. His confidence and control of the game showed through the pace that he directed his team’s offense throughout the all star contest.
Additional standouts:
’26 5’8 Silas Devonish ‘26 City
Lefty guard is an absolute bulldog at both ends of the floor, uses a strong frame to get whatever he wants 15 feet and in. Aggressive on-ball defender, good finisher at the rim, great leader and teammate on the floor. Anticipates where the rebound is coming off and chases down every loose ball.
’26 6’5 Rilpuou Kodi – Alexandria
Kodi shone brightly in the all star game with how hard he plays, converting several transition buckets after sprinting from end to end. Blocking shots, sliding defensively, rebounding the ball- Kodi has a chance to be a very high level player once he finishes growing and fills out his frame.
’26 5’7 Mekhi Polk– Howard
Incredibly explosive guard, gets wherever he wants to on the floor. Polk spent the entire game slicing through the paint, finding a big with a no-look drop pass or finding shooters in the corners. Polk used a low center of gravity to attack the opponent’s outside shoulder and force the defense to make extra rotations- showing good touch on floaters and scoop finishes around the basket.
’26 6’4 Evan Brown- Alexandria
Plays very hard and out-rebounds his peers as a result of that effort, finishes well around the rim, moves well on his rolls to the basket and in defensive rotations, aggressive shot-blocker, shows nice touch on his midrange jump shot, operates well on the block with a series of pivots and jab moves
