In this piece we dig deeper in to our notes to recognize some intriguing prospects who didn’t get mentioned in our initial coverage of the Cali-Live period event in Irvine.
Marcus Adams, Jr. Marcus Adams, Jr. 6'8" | PF Narbonne | 2023 State CA-S , 2023, Real Run 16u – The 6-foot-6 forward out of Narbonne high school in SoCal is a major mismatch creator both inside and out. Adams shoots it with consistency out to the three-point line in face-up situations, but can also beat defenders off the dribble and power through contact for paint finishes.
Jacob Bannarbie Jacob Bannarbie 6'6" | PF Torrey Pines | 2023 CA-S , 2023, Oakland Soldiers 16u EYBL – Bannarbie is one of the more gifted athletes at the forward/center position in all of Southern California. The 6-foot-8 junior, who recently transferred from Torrey Pines to San Diego high school, is a mobile rim-runner with good hands and footwork around the basket. Bannarbie is a powerful finisher around the basket and showed some face-up shooting touch as well.
Ryan Beasley Ryan Beasley 5'11" | PG Dougherty Valley | 2023 State #228 Nation CA-N , 2023, Oakland Soldiers 16u EYBL – Beasely is the definition of a high motor player similar to his older brother Robby, who is now on scholarship at Montana. The Dougherty Valley High product is an active and ball-hawking on-ball defender who makes his assignment work for any space off the dribble. Beasley’s defensive intensity creates turnovers and tons of transition scoring opportunities for his team. The 6-foot-1 point guard is a tough cover in transition due to his speed and ability to use his body to shield shot blockers and finish at the rim.
Malcolm Bell, 2023, Prodigy 16 Elite – This rangy 6-foot-5 guard out of Diamond Bar high school has the potential to be an impact two-way player at the next level due to his combination of toughness, athleticism and length. Bell flashed inside-out scoring potential, a knack for boards on both the offensive and defensive ends and simply plays harder and tries to out-work his opponent.
Brayden Burries, 2025, Team DTermined 2022 Select – Burries is an intriguing long-term wing prospect who can score in a variety of ways. The freshman-to-be has a smooth three-point shooting stroke both off the bounce and off the catch and continues to grow as a driver and finisher around the basket. Burries frame is still long away from a finished product and his size, length and fluidity make him a wing to watch over the next few years.
