In addition to five point guards (featured separately) cracking the 2022 ranks, five combo guards/shooting guards were also included in the latest update.

Here are five guards who received their due recognition in this update of the 2022 rankings:

110 [player_tooltip player_id="1268821" first="Seth" last="Clark"], 6-foot-3 shooting guard, Junction City HS:

An emerging player last winter, Clark followed up his quality junior season with a really impressive summer. He can get streaky and reel off points in bunches. He had a five-game string of double-figure performances last year that included 22 against Topeka High and 17 with five 3-pointers against Hayden. This summer with SSA Hoops Elite he showed ability to defend at the rim and finish off the dribble.

111 [player_tooltip player_id="1268822" first="Brahm" last="Born"], 5-foot-10 combo guard, Girard HS:

Born shoots it well on the move and in transition, and can knock down multiple 3’s a game if left open on the wing. He’s a hard-working athlete and heady defender. Born earned honorable mention 3A last year for his consistent production.

112 [player_tooltip player_id="1268823" first="Sergio" last="Chavez"], 5-foot-11 combo guard, Southwestern Heights:

Chavez was productive in every statistical category as a junior, and occasionally he went off for big point totals. He torched Wichita County for 31, and had 29 against Meade and 28 against Ulysses. On the year, he produced 16.1 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 2.7 assists en route to honorable mention in 3A.

113 [player_tooltip player_id="1268824" first="Trey" last="Harmison"], 6-foot-1 combo guard, Riley County HS:

The football star will be counted on heavily come basketball time. He earned 3A honorable mention last year and had some big outtings, like his 17 against Silver Lake and 16 against Mission Valley. Harmison is a tough, explosive athlete, and at his size can overwhelm a lot of smaller guards. His strongest suit might be his ability to produce turnovers at the defensive end.

115 [player_tooltip player_id="1268826" first="Sam" last="Smith"], 6-foot-1 combo guard, Burlington HS (pictured):

One of just three 2022s to receive post-season honors from the Pioneer League, Smith also was named honorable mention 3A for his work last season. He’s a long guard who defends with energy and passion. He can hit from deep, but he loves to beat defenders off the bounce and score off a Euro-step. He can pull up for a jumper over defenders, and hits acrobatic shots on the drive.
