The David Barns Showcase took place last Saturday. It was a much anticipated event, and it sure didn’t disappoint. There was talent at all levels and in all classes in the gym that day.

Almost any coach could have found what they were looking for at the David Barns Showcase. That’s what made it so difficult to name a best player in the gym from that day. Guys like [player_tooltip player_id="1111925" first="Anthony" last="Ribel"] and [player_tooltip player_id="1112375" first="Gio" last="Lutfy"] for example, and many more, put on terrific shows at the showcase.

After much debating over all the talent, performances, and feedback from the event, I finally made a decision. Im going to name [player_tooltip player_id="1076027" first="Adam" last="Ayrault"], from Grosse Pointe North, as best in the gym last Saturday at the David Barns Showcase.

Ayrault just looked like he was at a different level. He has the intangibles of a high upside prospect including good positional size, solid athleticism, and a high basketball IQ. Ayrault may have caught some by surprise as he hasn’t been on the grassroots scene as much. Many of us were waiting for a day like last Saturday, and it definitely arrived.

Ayrault flashed an impressive skill set, to say the least, at the David Barns Showcase. He scored effectively from both inside and out. He showed a ferocious 2 handed finish that he rose up on and flushed home from above the rim. Ayrault also showed the ability to step beyond the arc and shoot over top of defenders. He even showed the ability to stay focused through his shot when contested with a hand in his face. Don’t forget about defense. On numerous occasions, Ayrault stepped up the pressure just inside the half court line and created turnovers.

[player_tooltip player_id="1076027" first="Adam" last="Ayrault"] made a huge statement at the David Barns Showcase. He went from somebody that people wondered about to a prospect that Division 1 coached should keep an eye on. Ayrault will be a big story around the state from here on out.
