1.) 2022 [player_tooltip player_id="1235042" first="Jacob" last="Moel"] (BGM) - 101 steals

Moel picked up where former BGM guard [player_tooltip player_id="801955" first="Noah" last="Beck"] left off, using his quick hands and keen awareness on the defensive end to swipe over 100 steals as a junior. He does a little bit of everything on the floor for the Bears, leading the team in scoring, assists, and steals, while finishing second in rebounding.

A 5-11 lead guard, Menster will be the focal point of the offensive and defensive attacks for the Orioles as a senior. The lefty is a versatile scorer who flies all over the floor defensively, using his quickness and great feet to make life difficult for opposing ball-handlers.

Hilmer finds himself on yet another top returnee list. His constant activity on both ends of the floor leads to a ton of production. He has a knack for playing the passing lanes, jumping them and turning defense into easy offense. He’s the key piece of their full-court pressing style, flying all over the place and getting his hands on passes. He has committed to play at Upper Iowa.

4.) 2022 [player_tooltip player_id="962677" first="Trey" last="Jungers"] (Newell-Fonda) - 85

The Mustangs always rank among the leaders in steals, playing an up-tempo, pressing style that creates a lot of turnovers. Jungers posted 3.7 steals a game as a result of that frenetic style.

5.) 2022 [player_tooltip player_id="962646" first="Maddox" last="Griffin"] (Wapello) - 84

A dynamic 6-4 lead guard who led the Indians in nearly every major category, Griffin uses his length to make life difficult for opposing ball-handlers, and he does a great job moving his feet. He's one of the smartest players in the state and rarely takes unnecessary chances.

6.) 2023 [player_tooltip player_id="1167740" first="Carson" last="Fuegen"] (Easton Valley) - 81

Like Hilmer and Griffin, Fuegen also found himself on the top returnees list for assists. A 5-9 lead guard who uses his quick hands and feet to make life difficult for opposing ball-handlers, he is a quality defender both on-and-off the ball.

7.) 2023 [player_tooltip player_id="1167690" first="Jaixen" last="Frost"] (Mount Ayr) - 77

Another big-time returning scoring threat, Frost averaged 21.5 points on 55-40-90 shooting splits last year, making him one of the best all-around players in the class. His efficiency as a scorer is certainly helped by his ability to turn defense into offense.

8.) 2022 [player_tooltip player_id="1139259" first="Brayden" last="Olson"] (Lamoni) - 71

A 6-2 wing, Olson does a little bit of everything for the Demons, posting a stat-sheet stuffing line of 8.9 points, 6.4 rebounds, 4.4 assists, 3.7 steals, and 1.1 blocks a game last season. His versatility is key for Lamoni on both ends.

9.) 2022 [player_tooltip player_id="1158460" first="Brody" last="Ward"] (Iowa Valley) - 70

Ward is a big-time scorer, the top returnee in 1A at 23.0 points a game last season. A decent amount of that scoring punch comes off of his defensive abilities, turning his steals into quick and easy offense.

10.) 2023 [player_tooltip player_id="1240098" first="Jack" last="Christensen"] (Ogden) - 70

The 5-11 guard not only led the Bulldogs in steals, he is also a talented passer who dished out 80 assists on the year.
