We take a look at breaking down our 2024 watch list by taking a look at part three of just some of the top wings in the class, looking at shooting guards and small forwards.

[player_tooltip player_id="1259634" first="Gavin" last="Cormany"] | 6’1” | Radford

Yes, you’re reading that correctly, there’s another Cormany on the come up! The younger brother of [player_tooltip player_id="798739" first="Cam" last="Cormany"] (Navy) who graduated last season and the son of legendary Radford coach Rick Cormany, Gavin is set to be one of the top players in the NRV over the next few years. Like Cam he’s highly skilled in a number of ways including his ability to play on or off the basketball, and he is already one of the top shooters in the state. He plays with toughness and a good IQ, he can impact the game in a number of ways and did I mention before he has an absolute burner from deep?

[player_tooltip player_id="1259670" first="CJ" last="Parker"] | 6’5” | Maury

Parker is one of the most intriguing prospects in the 757 if not in the entire state in the 2024 class, as he’s chock full of potential and is just scratching the surface as to how good he will be. At 6’5” he has long arms and a good frame, he can play and guard multiple positions and is equally comfortable posting smaller guys or stepping out and playing on the perimeter making him a big time mismatch. He can make shots from deep, he can put it on the deck and get to the rim and he is productive across the board.

[player_tooltip player_id="1259635" first="Kyan" last="Bowman"] | 6’4” | St. Stephen’s St. Agnes

Bowman had a coming out party at the DMV Live at DeMatha as he is a young prospect on a veteran SSSAS group that typically develops their players to be very good late in their career. At 6’4” he has a great frame and is very strong for his age, he can make shots from deep consistently and he has a good base skillset. He plays with a great motor and is a good rebounder and impact defender, and he still has room to get better moving forward.

[player_tooltip player_id="1260007" first="Reece" last="Hagy"] | 6’4” | Charlottesville

Hagy is a gem in the Charlottesville area that will be a name a lot of people know in a few years. At 6’4” the smooth lefty is a skilled wing who can make shots from multiple levels, can handle and make plays for others and he can score it in bunches when he gets it going. He has a good work ethic from all accounts and he has a really good feel for his age and position.

[player_tooltip player_id="1260005" first="Ari" last="Hobson"] | 6’4” | VA Academy

Hobson, who plays for the U16 national team in Greece, is a name in the DMV area that will become very well known here moving forward. He’s in the midst of a growth spurt and has grown 2 inches from last year, and he’s a lights out shooter with prototypical size moving forward. He works well off the ball and has great footwork on the move, he can make shots over smaller defenders and he competes on both ends.
