The three-day Showcase By the Beach, hosted by the Cali Rebels, Cali Stars and Gamepoint basketball clubs, was an excellent tune-up event before the start of the July evaluation period season. There were a number of players who stood out for various reasons. In this report, we talk about some of the top overall prospects in the gym, excluding unsigned seniors and prep players who will be addressed in other reports.

Top 17u Prospects:

[player_tooltip player_id="972424" first="Cord" last="Stansberry"], 6-4 2022 G, Los Angeles Elite

Stansberry is an athletic combo guard who can drill it from deep and finish above the rim in traffic and transition. Even more impressively, he almost always makes the right basketball play, is uber unselfish and doesn’t turn the ball over.

[player_tooltip player_id="970255" first="Alpha" last="Chibambe"], 6-5 2022 G/F, Players Play

Arguably the most impressive defender in the gym, Chibamba is an elite athlete who is capable of guarding all five positions on the floor, and plays with supreme confidence. His offensive game is evolving as he becomes more comfortable handling the ball on the wing, and has a nice midrange attack.

[player_tooltip player_id="994908" first="Jacob" last="Bannarbie"], 6-9 2023 F, Players Play

Bannarbie has an elite basketball body and a rapidly evolving skill set. The right-hand dominant forward has an elite first step for his position and is an explosive finisher around the basket. Very few "big" prospects have his upside in the class.

[player_tooltip player_id="748737" first="Roddie" last="Anderson"], 6-1 2022 PG, Cali Rebels

One of the fastest rising prospects out West, Anderson is an athletic playmaking point guard who is an improving playmaker out of the pick and roll and a deadly scorer from midrange, killing drop coverages all weekend. Defensively, he has the moxie and the IQ to impact the game on and off the ball.

[player_tooltip player_id="748739" first="Devon" last="Arlington"], 6-3 2022 G, Gamepoint

Arlington willed his team to close wins during the showcase with his relentless slashing to the basket out of the pick-and-roll. When he’s not converting tough buckets from three levels, he’s drawing fouls due to his penetration, and living at the foul line.

[player_tooltip player_id="954255" first="Elijah" last="Price"], 6-9 2022 F, Carson Lightning

Price has a skillset that makes him an attractive modern big prospect. The long, lanky forward is a very good interior defender, rim protector and scorer, but his ability to switch on defense and defend guards on the perimeter, handle the ball, attack closeouts and score off the dribble and knock down perimeter shots on offense make him a matchup nightmare.
