There was a ton of talent on display and there were a lot of great games. Here is a look at the top standouts from the 14U division.
Jaiden Holloman & Nasir Williams (NEBC Elite)
NEBC Elite has one of the best versatile pairings you’ll see at the 14U level in Jaiden Holloman and Nasir Williams. Holloman posted a 29-point output early on Saturday and followed that up by combining for 28 points with Williams in a close victory over Team Rose. Holloman is a bucket getter and a strong, speedy, vocal and aggressive lead scoring point man. He is well on his way to being something special. Williams is a longer body who can shoot it well and get inside too. He is a crafty athlete who can do it all right now at a high level.
Keshaun Vaval, Brady Sehlhorst & Elijah Daughtery (Team Rose)
There is a lot to like with this Team Rose squad. Keshaun Vaval is the real deal and he came to play in a 62-59 loss to NEBC Elite on Saturday. Totaling 18 points, Vaval is a very instinctive player who knows where he needs to be on the floor to find his jumper. Later in the night, Brady Sehlhorst did his thing with a 21-point outing, hitting a plethora of 3’s along the way. Elijah Daughtery followed suit with a 17-point game and a bunch of finishes at the cup.
Myles Young (Team Illinois International)
Team Illinois International has a keeper in Myles Young. He is a long bodied athlete who uses his frame well. He totaled 20 points in a Sunday outing and I can see his upside clearly with every basket he connected on. He likes to get to the rim and shoot the mid-range floater.
Will Henke & Anderson Green (Louisville Magic)
In the opening tilt of the tournament on Saturday morning, the Lousiville Magic had to battle to earn the victory over Chapman Basketball Academy Gold. Will Henke was very smooth inside, tacking on 12 points and setting the tone. Anderson Green followed as an attacker, totaling 11 points and huge buckets late.
Devin Isaj & Spencer Bauer (ABC Young Lions)
In a late Saturday tilt with Rock Summit Basketball, ABC Young Lions won behind a strong half in which Devin Isaj really made things happen. He has a smoothness about his game and he is not afraid to hit jumpers in your face. Isaj has good size and natural leadership. Spencer Bauer totaled 12 points and was a major piece on the glass all game long.
Liam O’Neill & Kegan Steege (Iowa Barnstormers Black)
Playing together is always in the fold for Iowa Barnstormers Black. Liam O’Neill led his side with 16 points and he was a huge spark with some tough made 3’s in a win over Full Package Black. He brings energy to his team with every made shot as well. It’s fun to watch. Kegan Steege paired well with him, chipping in 14 points of his own and connecting from the mid-range and on lay-ins.
Makai Kvamme & Gavin Escpedo (Full Package Black)
In a 74-72 loss to Iowa Barnstormers Black on Saturday, Full Package Black never backed down. Makai Kvamme and Gavin Escpedo each scored 14 points respectively. Kvamme had his jumper working well, especially late in the game. Escpedo worked his way early to good areas to hit jumpers.
