There was a ton of talent on display and there were a lot of great games. Here is a look at most memorable matchups from the two-day slate of youth boys hoops.
North Coast Blue Chips vs. Wisconsin Elite (13U Championship)
You want to talk about high level, this 13U Championship tilt on Sunday between the North Coast Blue Chips and Wisconsin Elite was one of the best 7th grade games you’ll see around. Wisconsin Elite led at the break by eight points and it was a total track meet. The North Coast Blue Chips pulled out the 58-55 victory in a chippy one as Julius Smith (17 points) and DeZhon Hall (16 points) were essential down the stretch for the Blue Chips. Lamont Hamilton dropped a game-high 23 points for Wisconsin Elite and is very hard to slow down.
NEBC Elite vs Team Rose (14U Matchup)
There was a ton of effort and strong play in the NEBC Elite battle with Team Rose on late Saturday. NEBC Elite won 62-59 in a close one all the way through as the teams went back and forth. Jaiden Holloman and Nasir Williams combined for 28 points for NEBC in the game. Earlier in the day, Holloman (28 points) and Williams (21 points) were beyond impressive in a win with their mix of speed and high IQ. For Team Rose, Keshaun Vaval put up a nice outing with 18 points as he has a solid mid-range pull-up.
North Coast Blue Chips vs. Bates Fundamentals (13U Semifinal)
The 13U semifinal was nearly just as good as the championship game. North Coast Blue Chips made life hard for Bates Fundamentals and both teams respected one another fully after the matchup. The North Coast Blue Chips earned a combined 28 points from Keaton Aldridge and DeZhon Hall, who both slashed inside with confidence all game long. The duo can get it done. For Bates Fundamentals, John Sanderson shot it well with 13 points. He was hitting jumpers with ease all weekend and looks like a dangerous piece moving forward.
Team Teague Shawn vs. Carolina Underdogs (13U Matchup)
Team Teague Shawn took down the Carolina Underdogs 42-36 behind a balanced effort. They got a huge performance from Jon Claude L’homme (left) who led the charge with 15 points. He was good at the point of attack for Team Teague and did his thing when he needed to. Jason Rogers was rock solid for the Underdogs with 15 points as well. The two sides were exchanging buckets all game long.
