The Hoop Circuit NorCal Summer Regional Event featured more than 70 teams from 3 different age groups. The 2nd live period took place July16-18 at Los Pasitos JC, in Livermore CA.

Stockton Soldiers 17U

Deven Holbert 6’2 SG of Lincoln HS 2022

Holbert is a solid guard who doesn’t make a lot of mistakes. He has a good fundamental idea of how the game is played. He has decent handles, and passing skills as well as a good outside shot including 3’s. He has the footspeed, to defend in the open court, and he’s plays under control.

Joseph Fross 6’3 G of Lincoln HS 2022

Fross is a hard playing guard who gets after it on the court. He goes hard on the dribble drive, can handle the contact, and is a good 3pt shooter. In one game we saw during this event he was 4/5 on 3pt shots. He give good effort on the court.

[player_tooltip player_id="1129007" first="Everett" last="Hunter"] 6’5 F of Modesto Christian HS 2022.

Hunter is a big body with an improving skill set. He does good work in and around the basket being physical, and using his body for rebounding and scoring inside. He’s a bit undersized in the post but his strength, and body allow him to be effective defending taller players, and going after rebounds.

[player_tooltip player_id="1129031" first="Alex" last="Argandar"] 6’3 PG of Modesto Christian HS 2022

Argandar has made good improvement at the point guard position over the past few months. The pass first guard has good passing and vision to deliver the ball to the post, and to shooters. He’s getting into the paint more often to keep the defense honest. He’ll shoot his jumper if left alone.

WCE NorCal 17U-Wilson

[player_tooltip player_id="947390" first="Brycen" last="Shackelford"] 6’5 F of Folsom HS 2022

Shackelford has made a conscious effort to develop his game away from the basket. He’s still effective around the hoop, but his relentless dribble drives from the wings and the high post shows he’s been putting in work. He looks to shoot the mid-range jumper off the dribble, and will put up 3’s when open.

[player_tooltip player_id="1113073" first="John" last="Frazier"] 6’6 F of ST. Francis HS 2022

Frazier is a steady player with good fundamentals in the post. His foot work is decent, he passes well from the that area, and he’ll look to finish when he has the ball. He can hit the short jumper, and will go after rebounds. He runs the court pretty well. He needs to be more aggressive across the board.

Austin Moore 6’5 W of Modesto Christian HS 2022

Moore has made good all around improvements to his game, he’s not a stat stuffer but he will give good effort rebounding, defending, and going after loose balls. He has improved his shot from the 3pt line.

Khai Curry 6’0 PG of American Canyon HS 2022

Curry has superb ball handling skills, and lots of speed and quickness to control the pace of the game. He can be a facilitator when he needs to be, and he can turn on the jets at any time. He’s a nightmare when he’s in open court. He has all the finishing moves a PG needs. Floater, mid-range jumper, attack to collapse the defense, an occasional 3pt. A disruptor on any ball handler.

[player_tooltip player_id="947826" first="Brady" last="Cook"] 6’2 CG of Northgate HS 2022

Cook has been a solid facilitator for a while. Early on he was one of the more consistent pass first point guards, but now he’s looking to be more assertive on the offensive side of the ball. He has an improved mid-range game, and is looking to be more aggressive collecting buckets on the offensive side of the ball.
