Continue ReadingAs the AAU summer season gets close to finishing up their tournaments in the Pittsburgh area, we would like to recognize some players that made tremendous improvements to their game during the last few months. Not only did these young men get better, but they started to catch the eye of other AAU and high school coaches as forces to be reckoned with on the court. With that being said, if these players continue to work hard some very good college opportunities may present themselves in the near future. Here at Prep Hoops Pennsylvania, we will keep these rising performers on our radar moving forward this fall and winter. You might want to stop at a game and observe their talent for yourself this high school season.
Joey Dudkowski / 6’3 shooting guard / Pine Richland High School / Caveman Academy AAU / 2022
- He took his game to another level with a developed all-around skillset
- A quality defender with quick hands who rebounds well
- Joey can score in a variety of ways throughout a contest
LA Pratt LA Pratt 6'5" | SF Lincoln Park | 2022 State PA / 6’4 / combo guard / Lincoln Park High School / Easy Street AAU / 2022
- A talented perimeter player that can score with jumpers or on penetration to the rim
- Looks to create opportunities for his teammates
- LA continues to work hard on being a balanced basketball player
Mack Staunch / 6’6 power forward / Sharpsville High School / PK Flash AAU / 2022
- This big, strong forward cleans up on the offensive glass for easy putbacks
- He has a nice mid-range shot and likes to score in the post
- Mack runs the break well and finishes with thunderous dunks over defenders
Devin Burgess Devin Burgess 6'5" | PF North Hills | 2022 State PA / 6’4 wing forward / North Hills High School / Pittsburgh Crunch AAU / 2022
- A lanky, athletic slasher who has developed a good perimeter shot
- His ability to get to the hoop is an asset to his game from the wing position
- Devin puts in the time to improve his skillset with hours of preparation
Mike Wells / 6’4 wing forward / New Castle High School / Team Wildcat AAU / 2022
- This tough, athletic forward can score from a variety of spots on the floor
- He rebounds extremely well on both ends of the court and uses his body well in the lane
- Mike is a highly rated football player, but he excels in basketball as well
Jason Rodrigguez Jason Rodrigguez 6'4" | PF Passport Academy | 2023 PA / 6’5 power forward / Westinghouse High School / Urban Impact AAU / 2023
- The vertical ability of this young man is off the charts
- He rebounds well and looks to be a game-changer with his shot-blocking talent
- Jason is one of the most improved players in the state
Sawyer Butler Sawyer Butler 5'11" | PG Beaver | 2023 State PA / 5’9 point guard / Beaver High School / West Penn Athletics AAU / 2023
- His quickness handling the ball is a strong point for this point guard
- Looks to knock down the open perimeter shot, but does get in the lane with a quality floater
- Sawyer passes with precision and is an extremely unselfish players
Matt Gaither / 6’1 small forward / Upper St. Clair High School / Mason Elite AAU / 2023
- He has improved his offensive game to be more of a scorer and penetrator
- This young man gives one-hundred perfect every time he steps on the court
- Matt motivates his teammates with his strong work ethic
