As a result, there seems to always be a clash of playing styles between these two types of teams, and regardless, they always produce high level basketball games. Heading into next season, it looks like a lot of talented players will be returning to attempt and solidify their spots in the state tournament in March. Continue reading for a look at the top players from the 1A DI Western Idaho All-Conference team.
Charlie DeBoer Charlie DeBoer 6'6" | PF Riverstone | 2021 State ID , Riverstone International: Charlie secured his conference player of the year award after leading Riverstone International to an excellent season and great tournament run. All season, DeBoer was a tough matchup for many teams in the league as he was a big with a ton of great guard skills. Charlie can knock down a shot from well beyond the three point line and can also finish through contact with a dunk at the rim. On defense, DeBoer is an excellent rim protector and rebounds extremely well on both ends of the floor. Charlie’s style of play makes him a really tough player and a great talent.
Kaden Baxter, North Star: Baxter is a really talented guard for North Star who can score in a variety of ways. During the regular season, North Star handed Riverstone International their first loss of the season thanks to a 32-point performance from Baxter. He can score at the rim with either hand, stop and pop for a nice mid-range jumper, or shoot the ball from outside. Kaden’s skills and abilities to score the ball gives his team a chance to win no matter who they play.
Trayton Nelson, Idaho City: Trayton has a strong body and uses his strength to bully his way to the rim where he can easily score against any of his opponents. Nelson has a great feeling for the game and plays with confidence and poise whenever he steps on the floor. On defense, Trayton uses his physicality to his advantage and makes sure that no offensive players can have a free ride to the basket.
