#15 Christian Carden Christian Carden 6'4" | PF Varina | 2022 State VA | 6’5” | Varina (#45 Overall)
Carden isn’t the most highly touted prospect on his Varina team, however he is one of their most important guys as the glue guy and player that makes things happen as a walking mismatch at the four spot. At 6’5” he’s a good athlete but it’s his skill set that makes him so tough, as he’s able to guard multiple positions and rebound, make shots from all over the floor and he’s able to make plays for himself and others off the bounce like a guard.
#14 Cooper Bowser Cooper Bowser 6'8" | C John Paul the Great | 2022 State VA | 6’9” | John Paul the Great (#44 Overall)
Bowser is a rapidly improving big man that is a load in the paint and is able to dominate inside with his mix of brute strength, footwork and soft touch on the block. He’s surprisingly athletic for his size and he runs the floor hard, he has good hands and feet in the post and he’s able to finish over both shoulders while also being able to step out and make the midrange jumpers from the elbows as well.
#13 Wendell Tomlin Wendell Tomlin 6'6" | PF Church Hill Academy | 2022 State VA | 6’6” | Church Hill Academy (#43 Overall)
Tomlin is one of the better unknown prospects in the Richmond area as there just haven’t been a lot of coaches that have seen him play, but he’s a mismatch at his size with good ball skills and the ability to play both in the paint and on the perimeter. At 6’6” he’s long and a good athlete, he can really shoot it from deep when he’s set and open and he can put it on the deck and make plays for himself and others.
#12 Obinna Okafor Obinna Okafor 6'6" | PF Bethel | 2022 State VA | 6’7” | Bethel (#41 Overall)
Okafor has steadily improved from the raw big man that he was as a freshman at Bethel into a two way impact guy that still has plenty of room to grow moving forward. He’s an elite rim protector with good timing that’s able to block and contest shots without fouling, he’s mobile and can run the floor and move his feet to stay in front and he’s improved in his hands and ability to score in the paint as well.
#11 Arbriel Winfield Arbriel Winfield 6'7" | PF LC Bird | 2022 VA | 6’7” | LC Bird (#40 Overall)
Winfield is another unknown prospect in the RVA area that coaches should be intrigued by because he has tons of tools that make him a mismatch and he’s steadily improved over the past few years. He’s an excellent passer at the high post that can go high-low, he can catch and shoot and catch and rip on the perimeter and he’s a good defender that can switch onto wings and he can block shots coming help side.
#10 Spencer Hamilton Spencer Hamilton 6'9" | C Parry McCleur | 2022 State VA | 6’10” | Parry McLeur (#39 Overall)
Hamilton is one of the best prospects in SWVA with his mix of size, high motor and his soft touch from multiple levels and spots on the floor. He isn’t the quickest guy but he sets good screens and can roll and has good hands to catch passes, he can step out and knock down shots on the perimeter as well as finishing in traffic in the paint and he is a good shot blocker and rim protector as well.
#9 Elliot Black | 6’6” | St. Stephen’s St. Agnes (#36 Overall)
Black is one of the most unheralded players in the DMV as he has been a part of the very successful SSSAS team for the past three years, and he’s one of the most productive bigs in the area as well. While he isn’t the tallest he’s very strong in the post and explosive around the rim, he plays with a good motor on both ends of the floor and he’s a walking double-double without needing the ball in his hands very much.
#8 Ben Hall Ben Hall 6'7" | C Loudoun Valley | 2022 State VA | 6’8” | Loudoun Valley (#31 Overall)
Hall is a guy that not many people know because he doesn’t play at one of the premier private school in the DMV, but he’s shown time and time again he’s one of the best all-around bigs in that area. He’s a paint clogger and an excellent rim protector, he’s a blue collar guy who does all of the dirty work and he can score in the paint and out to the elbows as well.
#7 David Onanina David Onanina 6'6" | PF Bishop O'Connell | 2022 State VA | 6’6” | Bishop O’Connell (#30 Overall)
Onanina has been one of the top bigs in the WCAC despite not being the tallest guy, and it’s all due to his mix of strength, athleticism and high motor. He’s a competitor who brings it on both ends of the floor, he runs the floor hard and can finish above the rim and he’s a big time rebounder that pursues the basketball in and out of his area and boxes out very well.
#6 Judah Egbo Judah Egbo 6'7" | C Life Christian Academy | 2023 State VA | 6’8” | Oak Hill Academy (#24 Overall)
There’s rumors that Egbo is going to transfer from Oak Hill and reclassify to the 2023 class, and if he does so he should have division one schools from all over coming to check him out because he’s already improved a lot and will continue to do so. He’s very athletic for his size as he can run the floor and finish well above the rim, he’s improved on his timing, hands and feet and he plays with a great motor and great energy on both ends of the floor.
