This weekend I attended the Section-7 Finals at Brophy Prep in Phx, AZ.

There were only 36 invited teams instead of the first Section-7 with 190 teams.

There were also four teams who made the Summer-64 Final-4 who ended up at Brophy Prep to play in front of the college coaches.

I viewed around 10 local teams this weekend and here were some diamonds in the rough which include 3 new juniors:

-A bigger combo guard has a thicker build and can really shoot it. He has a good feel for the game and he was one of the main reasons the Chargers won the Summer-64 Championship. He has range on his 3 and he can pull-up off the dribble from mid. He takes it to rim with skill and speed and will drive and kick it out to shooters.

[player_tooltip player_id="827018" first="Jayson" last="Hunt"] Paradise Honors

-A long power forward has a lot to like. He is a good rebounder inside and the lefty scores it in efficiently near the cup. He can dunk the ball way above the rim and has some post moves. He has a nice drop stop and will get on the glass for offensive rebounds and score it on put backs.

[player_tooltip player_id="701251" first="Miles" last="Nash"] Brophy Prep

-A pure PG facilitates first then he will score it. He is a cerebral player who can throw lobs, uses the pick and roll to his advantage and get into the lane for a bucket. He has the floater and can get downhill with a sneaky good burst and score it through contact with some toughness.

[player_tooltip player_id="973815" first="Kyle" last="Waters"] Perry

-A natural slashing wing seems to be the glue player for the Pumas. He runs the court for easy buckets and does a lot of the dirty work for them. He rebounds well in his area despite being a little undersized and gets 50/50 balls. He can shoot the 3 and plays a smart floor game and moves without the ball.

[player_tooltip player_id="1225986" first="Dwayne" last="Jones"] Valley Vista

-A new one for me is an active player for the Monsoon. He moves well in space and can shoot it from the catch. He has a nice looking stroke from the 3pt line and brings it on defense using his length. He is a plus rebounder for position and gave his team extra possessions.

[player_tooltip player_id="1225987" first="Uche" last="Nsonwu"] Paradise Honors

-A true floor spacer for the Panthers. He is a sniper from the 3pt line and the baby faced shooter is best off the catch. He has a nice floater game and he is long and skinny, but smart and skilled. He will rebound in his area and has size in his family, so he may not be done growing.

[player_tooltip player_id="1225985" first="Jonah" last="Jones"] Millennium

-Another new one for me is long and is a fluid athlete. He is very crafty around the hoop and is a two-way player. He has good length and is good around the rim. He is very active on defense as he takes charges and cleans the glass for the young Tigers.
