RYZE Live Showcase II: 16U Standouts

2023 6-4 PG [player_tooltip player_id="1049219" first="London" last="Johnson"] – Game Elite 3SSB

A cool 44-point outburst vs. the Georgia Stars pretty much speaks for itself. Johnson averaged 22 points over four games, consistently finding offense in the paint. He went 13-17 from the line against the Stars as he would snake screens and wiggle his way into the teeth of the defense before exploding toward the basket. Johnson has cemented himself as one of the premier guards in 2023.

2023 5-10 PG [player_tooltip player_id="1020689" first="Tayden" last="Owens"] – Wood Elite

Combining speed, strength and skill, [player_tooltip player_id="1020689" first="Tayden" last="Owens"] was the engine that made Wood Elite go. In his final game of the tournament, he dumped in 30 points going 10-13 from the line while hitting 4 threes. Owens was like a running back hitting the hole. His burst to the basket forced opponents to foul. Tayden looks like he’s been in the weight room and looks ready to be one of the focal points of Cherokee’s new look offense.

2023 5-9 G Bryce Bracco – BCB Black

Need a three? Call Bryce Bracco. The three-point specialist burned defenses all weekend long as he buried triple after triple. Over three games, he nailed 9 trifectas. Bracco knows where his bread is buttered and he doesn’t do anything outside of himself.

2023 5-9 PG [player_tooltip player_id="1156033" first="Jackson" last="Sousa"] – BCB Black

I loved the way [player_tooltip player_id="1156033" first="Jackson" last="Sousa"] played. He’s a fearless competitor that lays it all on the line. He will dive for loose balls and will play till the final buzzer. Facing a huge Atlanta Xpress team didn’t hinder Sousa. He still found a way to attack the paint, scoring on floaters, spin moves and scoop layups.

2023 6-6 F Harrison Morris – BCB Black

There is upside within Harrison Morris. He’s a lean and athletic forward that brings energy inside. He blocks shots and battles for rebounds. Morris can stretch the floor some and attack off the dribble if there is a mismatch. He looks like a key piece moving forward for Walton.

2023 6-2 G [player_tooltip player_id="1045878" first="MJ" last="Whitlock"] – Atlanta Xpress

The human jumping jack continues to improve his skill. Marcus Whitlock is a three-level scorer that can drain the open three but also gets to the basket with ease as he elevates over everyone to finish. Whitlock uses those same springs to get on the offensive glass. Whitlock gets overshadowed playing with the loaded backcourt at Newton, but make no mistake, Whitlock is an intriguing college prospect.

2023 6-8 C [player_tooltip player_id="806640" first="Keith" last="Williams"] – Georgia Stars

The space eating post moves bodies with relative ease. Williams is a load inside, equipped with good feet and soft hands. He can bury opponents in the rim with deep seals and has a powerful drop step that clears out defenders.

2023 6-6 F Terrell Reeves – SBT

I liked the length and activity of Terrell Reeves. He can alter shots in the paint with his long arms and is an impactful rebounder. Reeves does the dirty work and doesn’t need plays called for him to be effective.
