NYC PSAL: Brooklyn Breakout Players

<p>Brooklyn’s PSAL has gotten off to a late start: after all, teams pretty much got their fifth game in this week. However, it’s safe to say that NYC Basketball is in full swing, with players looking like there’s no such thing as a 15 month COVID break. In this article, we take a look at some Brooklyn basketball players who took this last-second opportunity for basketball to break out and show NYC their skills.</p> <p><strong>Melquan Cisco | Erasmus Hall</strong></p> <p>Comparing Melquan Cisco’s production last season to what he’s putting on this year, the numbers jump off the page. Statistically speaking, Cisco struggled last season, averaging three points, while teammates like [player_tooltip player_id="1045936" first="Cosby" last="Napoleon"] carried the bulk of the load. While Napoleon is still doing amazing, Cisco finally got the breakout that his coaches were expecting. He has been averaging 15.2 points and really been doing it all, with great defense, shooting, and penetration.</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="773441" first="Jaquan" last="Carlos"] | Thomas Jefferson</strong></p> <p>Last season, Carlos was stellar, with there being pretty much a consensus that Carlos was a top 5 point guard in the state. However, his play from last season looks minuscule compared to what Carlos is bringing to the court this season. So far, Carlos is averaging an unreal 65.40 points per game with multiple 70+ point games. Carlos, who already is a Hofstra commit, has jumped from being the top 5 NY point guards to being one of the top 5 USA point guards.</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="945518" first="Tahron" last="Allen"] | Brooklyn Collegiate</strong></p> <p>Like [player_tooltip player_id="773441" first="Jaquan" last="Carlos"], [player_tooltip player_id="945518" first="Tahron" last="Allen"] has been unreal this season, with a recent game being a 159-51 victory in which Allen piled on a 72 point 10 rebound double-double. Allen has been looking Lebron-esque with every drive being a quick drive to the rim, where he is able to maneuver over and around everyone to get to the rim. His shooting, from midrange and three, has been there, and it’s clear he has what it takes to be a team leader.</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1048501" first="Jaden" last="Fonseca"] | Dr. Susan S. McKinney</strong></p> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="1048501" first="Jaden" last="Fonseca"]’s game has always modeled Kevin Durant. Fonseca is long with great athleticism and a great leap, and is able to play tenacious defense both laterally and vertically. Fonseca is also able to be a force in the paint and grab boards, and is consistently a double-double threat. However, this season, Fonseca has taken a larger leap, with his perimeter shot starting to look more and more elite. As that three-ball gets better, his triple threat only gets harder to defend.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p>
