Best Game: Minnesota Swish Aalfs vs. Minnesota Suns 8th Grade (2025)
This game was only a few games we watched in the main gym on Saturday, but it was well worth it. We had the definition of a nail-biter in this game as, from what I watched, neither team ever came up with a significant lead during either half in the game. In the end, it was a three-pointer by guard Henry Janikula (Watertown-Mayer) where he hit the three, missed the free throw but still sealed the deal for Minnesota Swish.
Best Big of the Day: Jamison Zavatchin | Oostburg, WI | Chapman-North 2026
Zavatchin looked in my eyes one of the most consistent bigs I watched yesterday in Eden Prairie. He has a well-put-together frame; defensively, sound does well on the boards was active in the passing lanes on Saturday morning.
Best Team Guy: Jeremiah Johnson | STMA | MN Matrix U14
Johnson checked all my boxes from what I watched on Saturday as the best team player I watched live. He did many things for Minnesota Matrix that don’t show up on the stat sheet but make his team better. He’s my “Team Guy” of the day from Eden Prairie.
Best Trio: Sam Hondl, Keller Hanson and Ethan Meyer | Minnesota Comets 2025 Hansen |
These three prospects were by far the best three players I watched from one team all day long on Saturday. Forward Sam Hondl (Albany) handled the inside scoring really well and showed he can fill up a bucket from multiple levels. Guard Keller Hanson (Sauk Rapids) was a sniper from outside. Ethan Meyer (Albany) was a team points machine that did not surprise me one bit. His sister Paige Meyer is a South Dakota State commit and one of the fundamentally sound team-first guards I watched in Minnesota in girl’s hoops over the last few years.
