Hillsboro Summer League: Class of 2022 Forwards
<p>Prep Hoops Missouri takes a look at the top Class of 2022 forwards from last week’s action at the Hillsboro Summer League in Jefferson County.</p>
<p>Matt Nelson 6’6 Kingston: A small-school talent that has been putting in work in the Parkland area since he was a freshman. He has a solid body and a nice skill set around the basket. He can score on drop steps, jump hooks and short turnaround jumpers. He can also put the ball on the floor and knock down the mid-range jumper. His handles are solid and he can pass well out of a double team.</p>
<p>[player_tooltip player_id="991583" first="Kywren" last="Thropes"] 6’5 Confluence: A talented swing forward who has a chance to really come into his own as a senior next season. He displayed his explosive athleticism by throwing down a big alley-oop dunk that everyone on its feet. He is also skilled around the basket and he has continued to expand his game to the perimeter where he was dropping 3-pointers and attacking the basket.</p>
<p>[player_tooltip player_id="984955" first="Isaiah" last="Robinson"] 6’7 Farmington: An athletic combo forward with good length and the versatility to operate inside or on the perimeter. He is very comfortable handling the basketball and making a play off the dribble. He has a nice touch around the basket and he uses his length to corral offensive rebounds. He also has good shot-blocking ability.</p>
<p>Grant Hastings 6’5 Oakville: A solid forward who had a very productive two games because he is solid in several facets of the game. He has good footwork and he can score with a variety of moves in the post. He uses his fakes well and he can score with both hands. He moves well without the ball on cuts and he can also step out and hit perimeter jumpers. </p>
<p>Jack Ruess 6’4 Festus: A physical 2022 forward at about 220-pounds who is also an excellent football prospect as a tight end. He brings that physicality to the basketball court, but he can also mix in a little finesse. He made a play where he stole the ball and dribbled the length of the court with a nice wrap-around dribble at midcourt on his way to the layup. He finishes well and he can also pass the ball.</p>
