Final Rankings for the Class of 2021

As the class of 2021 begin to embark on their various paths in life for the summer (some have already begun summer school), we at Prep Hoops LA are wrapping up their high school careers with the final rankings list for their class. We know the Gatorade Player of the Year will not be announced until Friday. However, we closing the books on a class that was much better than others anticipated two years ago. These final ranking are their swan song as college is next for them. The Top 5 The top three were like a 1A, 1B, and 1C selection at various times in their prep career. The final list ended with [player_tooltip player_id="530995" first="Carlos" last="Stewart"] (Dunham), the Santa Clara signee and LSWA player of the year, being named top dog. He was followed by Stephen F. Austin signee [player_tooltip player_id="566569" first="Derrick" last="Tezeno"] (North Central), Michigan State wideout and guard [player_tooltip player_id="765904" first="Keon" last="Coleman"] (Opelousas Catholic), Louisiana Tech signee [player_tooltip player_id="765906" first="Will" last="Allen"] (Bonnabel), and [player_tooltip player_id="765923" first="Daniel" last="Ortiz"] (Calvary) who signed with North Alabama. These five make up a group of 16 Division I signees (so far) in the state of Louisiana. Big Movers There were some district MVPs and other top players who made moves up the final rankings for the class of 2021. 1-5A district MVP [player_tooltip player_id="931043" first="Darius" last="Young"] (Natchitoches Central) moved up forty plus spots and finished as a top 40 player. [player_tooltip player_id="931054" first="Eric" last="McKnight"] (Southwood), a Centenary College commit, made a jump into the top 40 as well (#37). [player_tooltip player_id="931319" first="Bennie" last="Amos"] (L.B. Landry), who recently committed to Panola College, became a top 30 player following his district MVP winning season. [player_tooltip player_id="765931" first="Gage" last="Larvadain"] (Riverside) moved up as well, along with 3A MOP [player_tooltip player_id="765925" first="Devonte" last="Austin"] (Wossman). St. Martinville standout and Southern signee [player_tooltip player_id="1045510" first="Da’tayvious" last="Gabriel"] rounded out player movement as he finished right outside of the top 10 (#12) culminating his fantastic season. Newcomers Some of the notable newcomers were some of the most highly decorated players in the state. Class C 1st teamer [player_tooltip player_id="1202685" first="Nashaun" last="Reddick"] (Phoenix) was an addition to the final 2021 rankings. Other additions included 1A state champion [player_tooltip player_id="1202241" first="Jaqualon" last="Crane"] (Arcadia), 2A state champion and Belhaven commit [player_tooltip player_id="1202245" first="Kentae" last="Williams"], Class B MOP and state runner-up [player_tooltip player_id="1202670" first="Drew" last="Tebbe"] (Anacoco), and [player_tooltip player_id="1202682" first="Andrew" last="Yuratich"] of Doyle. Big Movers

There were some district MVPs and other top players who made moves up the final rankings for the class of 2021. 1-5A district MVP Darius Young Darius Young 6'5" | PF Natchitoches Central | 2021 State LA (Natchitoches Central) moved up forty plus spots and finished as a top 40 player. Eric McKnight Eric McKnight 6'4" | SG Southwood | 2021 State LA (Southwood), a Centenary College commit, made a jump into the top 40 as well (#37).
