It was a great weekend of hoops this past weekend as division one college coaches had their first "live period" in almost 2 years, allowing them to get in the gym and evaluate prospects in person finally. There were two events in the DC area, with the main private school one being DMV Live at DeMatha.

I was there live streaming the event for the CBG Live Network, and you can see all of the games archived here.

There was tons of talent in the gym, so much that I’ll have to break the standouts down into multiple parts per class! Here’s a look at part two of the top 2022 prospects, focusing on the standouts from the Maryland schools.

[player_tooltip player_id="904640" first="Dylan" last="Williamson"] | 6’1” CG | Good Counsel

Williamson was one of the top scorers in the event after dropping a 40 ball on day two, and while he wasn’t able to consistently match that output (not many can) he did show that he’s a scoring guard that division one schools be on moving forward. He’s smooth off the bounce with a good handle and ability to get to spots, he can make shots from multiple levels and when he gets hot he can absolutely take over a basketball game and fill it up in bunches.

[player_tooltip player_id="904682" first="Kyle" last="Pulliam"] | 6’4” WG | Good Counsel

One of Williamson’s sidekicks on this Good Counsel team, Pulliam is a wing with long arms and good size that isn’t the most athletic but he’s a talented shot maker and heady player on both ends. He moves well off the ball to get open, he can make shots from both beyond the arc and in the midrange and he has good instincts defensively to get deflections and jump passing lanes.

[player_tooltip player_id="1215151" first="Cesar" last="Tchilombo"] | 6’8” PF | John Carroll

It was the first time I got a chance to see Tchilombo, and I was thoroughly impressed with him and believe that there’s a lot of division one schools that are either over thinking this one or undervaluing all of the things he brings to the table. He’s long and mobile at 6’8” allowing him to switch onto wings and guards, he plays with a great motor and runs the floor hard and he’s very patient in the post and an excellent passer who sees and reads the game very well for someone his size and at his position.

[player_tooltip player_id="837919" first="Tyson" last="Commander"] | 6’4” WG | John Carroll

Commander is one of the most experienced guys on this Carroll team, and I’ve been impressed with the way that he’s developed and rounded out his game since I first watched him. He’s an excellent shooter and that’s what he’s known to do, but he’s developed in his ability to put it on the deck and get to the rim, make plays for others and how he’s able to make plays defensively off the ball as well.

Michael Moore | 6’9” C | National Christian

Moore is set to become one of the top bigs in the area in this 2022 class, as the 6’9” post has terrific physical and athletic tools and a very high ceiling moving forward. He’s long and very athletic and mobile, he’s able to protect the rim and play well above the rim and his defensive impact is as good as anyone I saw this weekend. He’s still a little raw but his energy is infectious and he has tons of room to continue to improve moving forward.

[player_tooltip player_id="904663" first="Rob" last="Lawson"] | 5’11” PG | National Christian

Lawson is a new addition to this National Christian group and he brings a lot to the table at the point guard position that made them even more difficult to guard this weekend. While he isn’t the biggest guy Lawson is shifty as all off the bounce, he can light it up from deep and he has a moxxy and swag to him at the point guard position that makes others want to play with him and makes him effective in a number of ways.

[player_tooltip player_id="1049816" first="Ty" last="Williams"] | 6’1” PG | Rock Creek Christian Green

Williams picked up an offer from Mount St. Mary’s a few weeks ago and he backed it up as a division one point guard this weekend with his ability to run the show and lead his team on both ends of the floor. He’s a natural athlete with good quickness off the bounce and lateral quickness defensively, he’s a natural leader that people follow and he continually makes the right decisions with the ball in his hands.

Ronnie Davis | 6’3” WG | Rock Creek Christian Green

Davis came into the event without much buzz but he put a lot of people on notice with his ability to score the basketball in bunches and make shots with consistency. He’s a strong wing and has the ability to get downhill and score it in traffic, he defended well on and off the ball and he showed he can really make shots at a high clip from deep as well.

[player_tooltip player_id="1110545" first="Cortez" last="Johnson"] | 6’7” PF | St. Frances Academy

Johnson by most accounts is going to prep after his final season at St. Frances and join the 2023 class, and if he does that he will undoubtedly be recruited by a host of high majors moving forward. At 6’7” he isn’t the biggest guy at his position but he is a high level athlete that is extremely explosive, he can defend multiple positions and he’s a walking mismatch with his ability to put it on the deck and get downhill.
