It was an action packed weekend of hoops and Prep Hoops Next will be continuing to drop content from the event as we get started with some of the top performers from the class of 2025 that played in Greensboro this past weekend…
JD Bowden | North Carolina | Class of 2025
Bowden was the lead guard for Carolina Heights and had a nice outing in a win against Team Thrill in my viewing of him. Bowden displayed some next level playmaking skills to also go along with good speed and quickness. Bowden excelled in getting out in transition where he got about half of his 19 points but also showed off a nice pull up jumper hitting from different areas on the floor.
Clevon Easton | Wisconsin | Class of 2025
Easton was Bowden’s running mate and immediately caught my attention this past Friday night playing for Carolina Heights. The 6’3 guard was constantly beating defenders off the dribble as he has a really good handle and skill set. He excelled in attacking the rim where he had no trouble finishing through contact and showed he can adjust to whatever the defense is throwing at him. Easton showed why he is becoming a national name this past weekend at the NYBL Takeover Invitational.
Tyler Jackson | Maryland | Class of 2025
Jackson put on a scoring clinic for Team Thrill in a close loss to Carolina Heights in doing everything he could to help secure a victory. Finishing with 21 points, Jackson showed that he is a high level scorer and has the ability to take over games. Jackson would make tough shot after tough shot as he put on one of the top individual performances I saw all weekend.
Randy Johnson | North Carolina | Class of 2025
Johnson is playing behind a lot of talent sharing backcourt duties with Easton and Bowden but Johnson made himself known when he was in the game. He is a reliable shooter from the three point line going 4 for 5 from deep in my viewing of him against Team Thrill. If it wasn’t for Palmer’s shooting abilities, Team Thrill might have knocked off Carolina Heights.
Austin Williford | Virginia | Class of 2025
Williford is the son of former Virginia Cavalier standout and current associate head coach of Virginia, Jason Williford. Williford, who is currently 6’3, is currently one of the first players off the bench for Takeover which is scary because he is a guy that would be starting on many other 8th grade teams but this just speaks to the amount of talent Takeover has. Williford has long arms to go along with a nice skillset and is athletic enough to play multiple positions. Look for Williford to start becoming a popular name in the state of Virginia.
