The quarterfinals of the CCS Open Division on Friday had a group unsigned players who stood out, and helped their team advance to the semifinals of the Open Division. This next round could be the final game for some of these players. PH has identified the standouts from their past performance.

[player_tooltip player_id="1113071" first="Ethan" last="Jew"] 6’5 Post of Saint Ignatius HS Unsigned Senior

Jew was instrumental in helping SI knock off Serra for the third time in a season, It’s hard enough to beat a WCAL team on any given night, but Jew who is an undersized post, but brings a lot of energy, and toughness. He has good strength, and moves well, he's a good passer. He played good post defense, grabbed key rebounds throughout the game. He was a key player late in the game.

[player_tooltip player_id="1114340" first="Mykola" last="Ediger"] 6’4 CG of Half Moon Bay HS Unsigned Senior

Ediger’s coach has been saying all season long that Ediger is the key to starting the engine for this team. He does a great job involving teammates. He’s a hi IQ player with vision, and underrated passing skills. His teammates know if they keep moving he’ll find them in transition or cutting across the middle. He stays in the flow, and can produce his own buckets when the opportunity is there. He’ll rebound and defend as well. 21 points in a victory over WCAL power Bellarmine Prep.

[player_tooltip player_id="775775" first="Lee" last="Hubbard"] III 6’2 PG of Archbishop Riordan HS

If there’s one word to describe Lee III’s season, it would be consistent. He’s been a consistent performer for this team and has led every step of the way. He's been effectively running this team all season. His handles, and passing are there. He’s upped his scoring, and is knocking down open shots. He had 10 points in their first round victory over Priory. He’s a top defender when locked in.

Ben McKnight 6’5 W/F of Half Moon Bay HS Unsigned Senior

McKnight is one of the players who’s usually on the other end a pass from teammate [player_tooltip player_id="1114340" first="Mykola" last="Ediger"]. He’s one of the many reasons why this team is sporting a 21-3 overall record. He’s doing his part. He’s a quality shooter from the 3pt line, he’s been a go to guy when he’s down on the block, he cuts, and moves through the lane knowing he’s going to get the pass. He’ll help out on the boards, and defend post players. He had 14pts and 10 rebounds in the win over Bellarmine.

Zachariah Granberry 6’6 W/F of Archbishop Mitty HS Unsigned Senior

Zachariah has had a plus season, going from not playing much his Junior season to starting, and being a solid contributor to the Monarchs success this season. His numbers don’t jump out at you. He’s the closest we can get to a glue guy for the Monarchs. He’ll defend with some toughness, help bang the boards, and he has a surprisingly good stroke from the 3.

These Unsigned Seniors have advanced to the Semifinals, and will have another chance to showcase their skills.

Saint Ignatius (12- 6) will play at Archbishop Riordan (13-3)

Half Moon Bay (21-3) will travel to Archbishop Mitty (15-1)
