As the early AAU season has ended and we head into June HS ball, we look back to see what club teams have performed well.

This is obviously not an easy exercise since many of the teams never played each other and some rarely even play in the state. A lot of it is the eye test and how they performed out of state and at a few local events.

Mid season awards:

Co-MVP’s of 16U:

[player_tooltip player_id="814036" first="Roosevelt" last="Washington"] (AZ Select UAA)

[player_tooltip player_id="831119" first="Jason" last="Fontenet Jr"] (Firestorm 16 Elite)

This may be some kind of ranking, but this can also be a cheat sheet for college coaches to view them for the July live period.

16U:

1. Firestorm 16 Elite

Won the Compton Magic Memorial event and Battle Zone earlier last month. They only lost to Compton Magic 16 Elite on the season but beat them in the Chip when it mattered. Also beat Dream Vision and LV Knicks. Fontenet Jr and Williams are extremely versatile.

Top players: [player_tooltip player_id="831119" first="Jason" last="Fontenet Jr"], [player_tooltip player_id="831114" first="Cody" last="Williams"], [player_tooltip player_id="814525" first="KJ" last="Perry"], [player_tooltip player_id="814508" first="Andrew" last="Camacho"], [player_tooltip player_id="814516" first="Bryce" last="Ford"], [player_tooltip player_id="1008612" first="Julian" last="Roberts"] & [player_tooltip player_id="1032529" first="Nate" last="Parras"].

2. AZ Select 16 UAA

Another top team with only 2 losses to UAA circuit teams. They are undefeated locally. Beat B Maze Elite and Dream Vision. Tru and Arman are a tough duo to go along with the shooting of Delano.

Top players: [player_tooltip player_id="814036" first="Roosevelt" last="Washington"], [player_tooltip player_id="831117" first="Arman" last="Madi"], [player_tooltip player_id="831122" first="Vincent" last="Delano"], [player_tooltip player_id="936765" first="Trey" last="Brown"], [player_tooltip player_id="1009139" first="Erenzo" last="Scroggins"], [player_tooltip player_id="831118" first="Emery" last="Young"] & [player_tooltip player_id="1172175" first="Albert" last="Wilson III"].

3. Factory 16

-Multiple injuries have slowed this team a little but they have some good wins along the way. Big Noah also plays on the 17U team.

Top players: [player_tooltip player_id="814038" first="Noah" last="Amenhauser"], [player_tooltip player_id="937187" first="Carter" last="Gittens"], [player_tooltip player_id="814519" first="Matthew" last="Henry-Harrison"], [player_tooltip player_id="1132004" first="Davis" last="Hester"] and [player_tooltip player_id="1077598" first="Isaiah" last="Bronson"].

4. Zone-6

Maker is a tough cover from all levels and a defensive stud.

Top players: [player_tooltip player_id="994004" first="Mathiang" last="Maker"], [player_tooltip player_id="1168771" first="Nait" last="George"] and [player_tooltip player_id="1030973" first="Vincent" last="Parise"].

5. Legion of Hoops 2023

Their team ball is a thing of beauty led by the cerebral Mora.

Top players: [player_tooltip player_id="1060734" first="Andy" last="Mora"], [player_tooltip player_id="831123" first="Isaac" last="Kaps"], [player_tooltip player_id="814511" first="Cristian" last="Depue"] and [player_tooltip player_id="814515" first="Connor" last="Fitzgerald"].

6. BE Elite 16

The Valley Vista boys have great chemistry led by Isai.

Top players: [player_tooltip player_id="814521" first="Aadem" last="Isai"], [player_tooltip player_id="1029809" first="Tarik" last="Spencer"], [player_tooltip player_id="814533" first="Clayton" last="Werner"], 6’3 W Dallas Marker and [player_tooltip player_id="814512" first="Terrell" last="Doxie"].

7. Team Zona 16

The Ironwood boys will basically be the next years varsity for the Eagles. Williams, Kuac and Thomas are a tough out.

Top players: [player_tooltip player_id="936905" first="Julius" last="Williams"], [player_tooltip player_id="936910" first="Jordan" last="Kuac"], [player_tooltip player_id="1046351" first="Tristen" last="Reid"] and [player_tooltip player_id="814531" first="Adonis" last="Thomas"].

8. PAL Elite 16

Ramos and Benson form are nice scoring duo to go along with the athletes of Armstrong and Binford.

Top players: [player_tooltip player_id="831121" first="Kota" last="Benson"], [player_tooltip player_id="937182" first="Royce" last="Ramos"], [player_tooltip player_id="1035129" first="Adrien" last="Armstrong"], [player_tooltip player_id="936906" first="Masaiah" last="Binford"], [player_tooltip player_id="831129" first="Eric" last="Perkins"] & [player_tooltip player_id="996741" first="Deven" last="Johnson"]

9. Firestorm Dante 16

Tedeschi makes this team go.

Top players: [player_tooltip player_id="1032530" first="Vincent" last="Tedeschi"], [player_tooltip player_id="1136425" first="Ethan" last="Faas"], [player_tooltip player_id="1031563" first="Jayshawn" last="James"], [player_tooltip player_id="937183" first="Dalton" last="Graham"], [player_tooltip player_id="1141680" first="Bobby" last="Holcomb"] and [player_tooltip player_id="1032531" first="Jaydon" last="Cameron"].

10. AZ Select Wilson 16

A balanced group led by the scoring guard in DB.

Top players: [player_tooltip player_id="1160999" first="Devin" last="Miller"], [player_tooltip player_id="814507" first="Davion" last="Butler"], [player_tooltip player_id="1180583" first="Marsai" last="Mason"], [player_tooltip player_id="1180559" first="Max" last="Lightfoot"], [player_tooltip player_id="1119360" first="Diego" last="Ibarra"], [player_tooltip player_id="937192" first="Tyson" last="Wheeler"], [player_tooltip player_id="1014670" first="Ty" last="Sandoval"] and [player_tooltip player_id="1180584" first="Pasha" last="Shemirani"],

11. RHJ 16

This was another injured team which included the talented [player_tooltip player_id="996161" first="Lashy" last="Perez"].

Top players: [player_tooltip player_id="996161" first="Lashy" last="Perez"], [player_tooltip player_id="1183310" first="Corey" last="Wood"], [player_tooltip player_id="1120889" first="Torin" last="Bosch"] and [player_tooltip player_id="936907" first="Shane" last="Williams"].

12. Uptempo Elite 16

One of the better natural scorers with [player_tooltip player_id="993647" first="AJ" last="Turner"] leading this group.

Top players: [player_tooltip player_id="1120854" first="Roman" last="Cummings"], [player_tooltip player_id="993647" first="AJ" last="Turner"] and [player_tooltip player_id="1202069" first="Kevontre" last="Cushenberry"].

14. DBR 16

A predominantly Williams Field HS group has a lot of guards who can play led by the two-way JD Bradford.

Top players: [player_tooltip player_id="1141681" first="Jonathan" last="Bradford"], [player_tooltip player_id="1205019" first="Kyree" last="Richards"], [player_tooltip player_id="1141426" first="Jase" last="Kooima"], [player_tooltip player_id="1141427" first="Jordan" last="Kidd"] and [player_tooltip player_id="1141428" first="Jaxton" last="Payne"].
