The class of 2022 is a talented one in Michigan. There is a vast array of skill sets for coaches at any level to take a hard look at.

Here are 5 players that college coaches should start recruiting ASAP from the class of 2022:

[player_tooltip player_id="863935" first="Max" last="Burton"] (2022, SF, Williamston)

Burton has the physical skills and characteristics that make up a big time prospect. His combination of positional size and ball skills is very rare and extremely desired at the next level. Burton has the ability to score in the paint and on the perimeter. He sees matchups and seems to understand where and when to attack them.

[player_tooltip player_id="983494" first="Joe" last="Francis"] (2022, SG, Adrian)

Coaches at the next level have to get out and see him during grassroots season and make a visit to Adrian High School when possible. He’s even longer when you see him in person and he can really use that length on defense. Francis is silky smooth on the offensive end, making his ballhandling look almost effortless. Francis is a confident shooter with in the gym range. Best of all, he’s earned a reputation as a great teammate and a young man that guys like to play with.

[player_tooltip player_id="1067871" first="Nick" last="Henry"] (2022, PF, Caledonia)

Everyone wants a talented post player. Well, here you go. Henry has improved significantly in the last year or so and shows no reason that it will stop. His footwork in the paint is solid, making him look light on his feet. He can move horizontally in the lane which makes him a big asset in help defense. Henry plays even bigger than his listed 6-7 and his physicality on the glass is probably what helps him seem to play tall.

[player_tooltip player_id="863965" first="Scott" last="Sims"] (2022, PG, Kalamazoo Central)

Sims has always been a floor general that I really like and his spring grassroots season has only confirmed how I feel about his game. He’s the type of point guard that makes his teammates lives easier. Sims can do this by handling pressure defense with his ball handling and consistently finding the hot hand on offense. He’s dependable with the ball and doesn’t need to be shot heavy to make a big impact on the game.

[player_tooltip player_id="863944" first="Owen" last="Varnado"] (2022, SG, Western Michigan Christian)

The more I see Varnado play, the more impressed I am with what he brings to the table. I could really see, almost expect, this young man to absolutely blow up in college. In my opinion, he just has that kind of game. Varnado has elite type athleticism on offense. When he gets downhill with the ball.....LOOKOUT. He’s a fantastic finisher that can play above the rim. Varnado has a really nice basketball IQ and you can tell that he’s a true student of the game.
