West Coast Circuit Recap: Under The Radar Prospects Vol. 1

With the Region Finals underway, now seems like the perfect time to take a look back. During the CIrcuit season I was fortunate to catch the action in California at the West Coast Kick-Off, Oklahoma at Sooner State Showdown, and in Arizona at War In The Valley. Countless articles have been written highlighting the standout players from these events, however, in an effort to evaluate as many potential prospects as possible, I wanted to take a look at some players whose performances may have flown under the radar. In this article, we take a look at some under the Radar Prospects from these events. Note: This article only contains players that participated in either War In The Valley, WCKO, or Sooner State Showdown.

Mark Beeten 5’9 PG All Vegas 2025 – Beeten is a high IQ glue guy, that had a couple of good games for All Vegas, en route to their Championship in Phoenix. He serves as a backup ballhandler and can be a dangerous shooter, especially when he sees the first one go in.

Giancarlo Martina 5’7 PG Vegas Select 2025 – One of the scrappiest players on the circuit. Martina loves to harass opposing ballhandlers, and can often be seen picking them up full court. Offensively he does a good job as both a facilitator and a shooter. At the West Coast Kick-Off, he was one of the catalysts helping VS to the Semifinals.

Ashton Johnson 5’7 SG WOGW 2027 – For a player under the radar, Johnson has major flare and wiggle. He is good in catch-and-shoot situations, but don’t be surprised to see him put it on the ground and create for himself. While he is more of a 2, Johnson does have a good enough handle to spend time playing the 1.

Maddox Lazor 5’10 PF UpTempo Elite Black 2027 – Laxor is a good rugged player, that played well at the WCKO, however, it was his performance in Phoenix that allowed him to standout. He had a monster 21 point game, making his case as a young player to keep an eye on moving forward.

David Lunn 5’11 PF JB White Elite 2027 (featured image) – Lunn has been one of the best conditioned athletes, as well as one of the most consistent scorers on the circuit. Similar to a bowling ball on his drives, Lunn has a knack for getting downhill and finishing around the rim. He plays both 12 and 13U for JB White and is equally productive for both squads.

Rayanne Lomboto 6’4 SF BBSS Grey 2025 – I saw Lomboto in Oklahoma and was blown away by his length and defensive ability. He showed good versatility defending both perimeter and frontcourt players and terrific instinct, jumping passing lanes for steals.
