Elijah Davis – 5’11″ – Summit City Elite
Davis is a smaller guard who took a backseat for Fort Wayne Snider this year, but he showed some bright spots in Friday’s game. He has the ability to knock down the shot from deep, and he can finish either way with his touch around the rim. He did have the tendency to take his man on 1v1 too much, so that is something that he will have to improve on. However, he does have the ability to make plays and that is something that he will have a chance to show coaches throughout next season.
Brandon Downs Brandon Downs 6'2" | PG Coldwater | 2022 State MI – 6’5″ – Summit City Elite
Downs is a smaller point guard who plays very quickly. This speed and quickness can sometimes lead to bad decisions and turnovers, but he is not going to ever slow down and stop being aggressive. He showed off a nice little pull-up jumper and had a couple of strong takes to the hole. I haven’t seen Downs play before, but if he can slow down and avoid some of those mistakes, he will be a tough player to stop.
Omarion Hatch Omarion Hatch 5'8" | PG Michigan City | 2022 IN – 5’6″ – 94 Feet Elite
Hatch is a very small guard who played the point pretty well for 94 Feet Elite in this one. Despite his height, he has learned to play against bigger players. He has a quick first step that allows him to beat his primary defender, and he has perfected shielding off the shot blockers around the rim to get his shot up. He is very scrappy and isn’t afraid to get on the floor, and he sees the court well when running the point. He hit two mid-range jumpers, but that was the only shooting that I saw. If a coach wants to take a flier on a smaller guard with lots of heart, Hatch is one to keep an eye on.
Jalen Jackson Jalen Jackson 6'2" | PG Fort Wayne Northrop | 2022 State IN – 6’2″ – Indy Heat Red
Jackson is a physical point guard who loves to play through contact. He uses his quickness to beat people up the floor, and his first step allowed him to get to the rim fairly easily. He did struggle to finish around the rim for the majority of the game, but this is really unlike him. He has a ton of talent which makes Jackson an easy Division 2 or NAIA player who can score the ball in many different ways.
Kareem Rozier Kareem Rozier 5'9" | PG Orchard Lake St. Mary's | 2022 State MI – 5’9″ – Meanstreets
Rozier is a smaller guard who is crazy quick and has an extremely high basketball IQ. He sees the court very well and always looks to make the extra pass rather than putting up a relatively contested shot. On a team with a crazy amount of talent, Rozier was really the game that allowed them to function as he was the main facilitator for the plethora of talented scorers. He hasn’t gotten as much attention as he should as his only offer is from Mississippi Valley State, but he can flat out hoop. He is going to make a college coach extremely happy in the years to come.
Braden Smith Braden Smith 6'2" | PG Woodlan | 2024 State IN – 5’11″ – Grand Park Premier UA Rise
Smith is a smaller guard who recently committed to Purdue University. He is a creative player who can get his own shot or set up his teammates in many different ways. He was pressured consistently at the point in this one, but he held tough and remained smooth with the ball in his hands despite a couple of forced turnovers. Smith didn’t shoot the ball as well as he has shown in the past, but he is a top-level scorer who has the ability to put up big numbers.
Gabe Trevino Gabe Trevino 5'10" | PG Eastside | 2022 IN – 5’10″ – Gym Rats Red
Trevino looked really impressive playing the point early on Saturday morning. He sees the court well which allows him to find the little pockets and gaps in the defense and exploit those. He also is incredibly strong and physical, and he seeks out contact on every single drive. This physicality just makes him an even tougher player to guard. Trevino can also knock it down from the outside at a consistent rate. Obviously, undersized point guards are a dime a dozen, but Trevino’s strength and physicality that he plays with make him a more interesting prospect than others.
Leland Walker Leland Walker 5'11" | PG North Central | 2022 VA – 6’0″ – Team Teague
Walker may be the quickest and best ball-handler that I have ever seen at the high school level. He has the ability to take on any defender at this level and beat him with ease. His ball-handling and court vision make him a top-level guard, but he can also score the ball with the best of them. He struggled to finish around the rim in this game, but he is always putting himself in a position to win the game. Walker already holds 11 Division 1 offers including ones from Purdue and Xavier, and I would fully expect this number to increase in the next year. His ball-handling skills make him a must-have prospect for any college in the country.
