BURNSVILLE– When I start notating my “All-Hustle Team” at every Prep Hoops Next event, I look for players that you might not see on the box score. I have no stats requirement for making my All-Hustle Team; I strictly look at the players that are going hard on every play, whether the ball is in their hands or not. I have also polled most of the coaches from our tournament in Burnsville to give their nominees for their best hustle players on their roster from the weekend.
To stand out in a big way on my All-Hustle Team, you need to be chasing loose balls out of bounds, diving on the floor to give your team an extra possession, or just flat out hustling from sideline to sideline on the court. In my honest opinion, these players on our All-Hustle Team will make the best team players at the high school level and have a great chance of being a team captain of their high school teams in the future. Take a look at my All-Hustle Teams from Burnsville at the Prep Hoops Next, Battle at the Lakes.
Class of 2025
Roan Demovsky | DePere, WI | Team 1848 2025
Demovsky was a player that handles the point for Team 1848 2025 but knows his role extremely well on both sides of the ball. When I watched him on defense, he brought a scrappiness to his game and was a defender that stuck like glue to his man in the bulk of plays I watched. Roan also has some clutch handles that will only get even better with time.
Josiah Posey | Milwaukee, WI | Kevon Looney Power 5 Fletcher 2025
Posey looked to be the hardest working kid on this KL Power Five Fletcher roster. In both games, I watched him exceed expectations in my team points category, always doing everything to make his team better. Because he did this at such a high level in multiple games, he was a no-brainer selection for my All-Hustle Team for the Class of 2025.
Trevon Singer | Monticello, MN | Minnesota Rush 2025
Although Singer’s Minnesota Rush squad came out on the losing end of the game I watched, he did an exceptional job to add his name to this list. He was a jack of all trades for the Rush by being a team-first player that played with hustle and pace despite what the scoreboard might have read. He also was a guard chasing plenty of rebounds against the bigger roster of the Magic and was having great success. Singer is a player from my neck of the woods I’m excited to watch grow over the next four years for the Monticello Magic.
Sean Hansen | Appleton, WI | Wisconsin Playground Club 2025
Hansen was another kid that filled up my notepad in the team points category in the two outings I watched of him this weekend. You can tell by Hansen’s scoring ability that this kid gets to the basket with his strong motor and has a great way of sneaking his way to the basket with ease. I loved how elusive he was scoring on the low block in both games I took in this weekend.
Cale Peed | Green Bay, WI | Team 1848 2025
According to Team 1848 2025 head coach Nate Zastrow, Peed was well deserving of the All-Hustle Team because of how well he knows his role. Peed is another kid on this list with a strong motor and a great basketball IQ that makes the right plays, not so much the flashy plays. Peed had his fair share of team points to crack the Class of 2025 All-Hustle Team from Battle at the Lakes. If I had to give the nod for the best hustle team that I watched this weekend, Team 1848 2025 would get my nod.
Brayden Steinbecker | Manitowoc, WI | Wisconsin Crusaders Premier Black 2025
Ben Stemper | Caledonia, MN | MN Lightning King 2025
Jackson Dahl | Circle Pines, MN | Minnesota Heat Dahl 2025
Grant Dean | Neenah, WI | Wisconsin Crusaders Premier Black 2025
Carmelo Fletcher | Milwaukee, WI | Kevon Looney Power 5 2025
Meyer Swinney | Edina, MN | Minnesota Heat Dahl 2025
Cordell Rodgers | Milwaukee, WI | Kevon Looney Power 5 2025
Evan Vanevenhoven | Neenah, WI | Wisconsin Crusaders Premier Black 2025
Jayson Gainey | Glendale, WI | Wisconsin Playground Club 2025
Luke Schwickerath | Monticello, MN | Minnesota Comets Cloutier 2025
Class of 2026
Blake Fagbemi | Naperville, IL | Illinois Attack 2026
Blake was one of the top hustlers I saw all weekend from the Class of 2026 and one that left a lasting impression even though I only got to watch him once. When I watched his game on Friday night vs. Minnesota Lightning King 2026, I saw a kid that just kept playing basketball even though his team was overmatched. He showed a fearless demeanor that kept attacking the basket with his quick floaters. You could tell that despite being down a ton, that Fagbemi just kept playing hard, doing whatever he could to score and make his team better. Another colleague of ours also watched Fagbemi on Saturday and saw the same traits I did. He will be a great competitor at the high school level.
Noah Lease | Minneapolis, MN | Minnesota Splash 2026
Lease cracked my list due to his team-first stats he put out this weekend. According to his coach, Lease, in my book, put up 29 team points throughout the weekend, which is such a solid number. He also tied that number as far as his scoring ability, as he logged 29 points scoring as well—a hard-working kid with some great potential from North Minneapolis.
Nathan Ramus | Appleton, WI | Wisconsin Playground Club 2026
I saw Ramus’s hustle in the 13U championship game come out strong. Although Wisconsin Playground Club had multiple standouts throughout the weekend, Ramus was a player that was a scoring machine at the right time and was doing everything he could to get his team a championship this weekend. He was key in sealing the deal for Wisconsin Playground Club in the championship game in 13U. Congratulations to WPG 2026 and Nathan Ramus!
