In the final weeks of the spring, grassroot programs will start transitioning into their breaks and the players will start heading to their summer workout programs with their high schools in June. Let’s begin to look at some player storyline’s to check out as we head into June.

The Return of [player_tooltip player_id="1076399" first="Will" last="Gavin"]: The 6’3 Aquinas point guard was off to a tremendous start in his junior campaign before going out with an injury. He was been patiently waiting and should be making his return to the court in June. The gifted ball handler, space creator, shot maker, and distributer will be looking to get back to form and se the tone for an Aquinas team with a ton of potential. Also look for Gavin to have a huge summer back on the grassroots circuit.

[player_tooltip player_id="952448" first="Joey" last="Robinson"] taking the reigns: Robinson will be taking the reigns in the back court for Blue Valley Northwest with the departure of [player_tooltip player_id="730611" first="Alston" last="Mason"] and a new coaching staff taking over. Robinson has had a solid spring with Team Yobo and is a real tough competitor, good shooter of the basketball, and will have no trouble being the leader BVNW needs. Expect a strong end of the spring, June school run, and July back on the grassroots scene.

[player_tooltip player_id="891912" first="Nahcs" last="Wahwassuck"] headed to Link Academy: The talented 6’5 Point Guard has accomplished quite a bit in the Big 7 and at Royal Valley. His transfer to Link Academy for his senior season and joining the new elite high school program out there will be fun to watch. Wahwassuck had a tremendous start to the spring but was hampered with a rough lower back injury that he has since recovered from. This spring on the grassroots scene he average almost 14 points per game and added 5 assists, and 4 rebounds per game on over 50% shooting.

[player_tooltip player_id="1076260" first="Elijah" last="Brooks"] returning for state runner up 5A Topeka West: The athletic scoring guard will be the most impactful player from last year’s roster that made it to the 5A state championship game returning. Brooks has had some solid games this spring in the outings and box scores I was able to catch throughout the spring in tournaments. There will be a lot of young talent getting an increased role next year, and Brooks will have to help get them up to speed. Brooks could get a big stock bump with a solid June and July.
