Hustle in the Sun: Top 2024 AZ Newcomers

<p>The Prep Hoops Circuit was back in town this weekend for the <strong>Hustle in the Sun </strong>at Inspire Court in Gilbert, AZ. There were 65 teams from the 15-17U levels. </p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>I am focusing a lot on the 2024 class this week, since it is obviously the class I know the least about due to COVID, and many didn't play varsity yet or even have a season. </p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>We look into some of top 2024 newcomers:</p> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="1193881" first="Nic" last="Corbo"] (<strong>AZ Triple Threat 2024)</strong></p> <p>-Awarded a 2nd team nod for the 15U division. He is smart, skilled and he is a play-maker. The lefty has nice court vision and can sling a pass to a teammate. He has a shifty handle and can pull-up from mid-range plus use the floater.  </p> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="1194200" first="Tim" last="Gorham"] <strong>(Uptempo Elite 2024) (Pictured)  </strong></p> <p>-Awarded the most versatile for the 15U division. He can handle it in the open court and get downhill to score, He rebounds out of his area and plays with great energy. He is tough around the cup and a capable perimeter shooter. He defends well in space on the perimeter versus guards and inside versus bigs.     </p> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="1193877" first="Ryan" last="Jackson"] <strong>(AZ Select 2024-2)</strong></p> <p>-Awarded the best glue player for the 15U division as he does so many things well. He is a physical defender inside the paint and out rebounds bigger players consistently with a big motor. He scores it inside efficiently and makes extra passes and outlets well to teammates.  </p> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="1193882" first="Greg" last="Bienvenue"]<strong> (Legion of Hoops 2024)</strong></p> <p>-Another Desert Ridge standout was awarded one of the top forward athletes. He gets off the floor effortlessly and crashes the glass with his brute strength, girth and build. He has that football type of body and the lefty can score it in the paint.   </p> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="1193878" first="AJ" last="Marsh"]<strong> (AZ Select 2024-1)</strong></p> <p>-Awarded the fastest end to end with the ball and he is tough. He has a tight handle and good open court speed. He seems to out race his opponents often and can turn the corner for layups. He can hit the 3 with some success and is quick on the ball defensively with a stocky frame. </p> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="1194266" first="Austin" last="Wallace"] <strong>(AZ Select 2024-1)</strong></p> <p>-A good sized two-guard has a clip. He squares up quickly and fires away from the 3pt line with fast trigger. He has good length to defend and plays a smart floor game. He smartly relocates to open spots on the floor to free himself to get his 3pt shot off. </p> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="1194267" first="Mitchell" last="Perkins"] <strong>(AZ Select 2024-3)</strong></p> <p>-A strong and skilled four-man with sneaky bounce. He is undersized but can shoot it to the 3pt line plus from mid. He brings his hard hat inside to battle bigger forwards and has a high IQ. He has good length with a stronger build. </p> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="1194344" first="Chase" last="Fredrickson"]<strong> (Westside Elite 2022)</strong></p> <p>-One of the bigger freshman in the class, as he is only the 6th freshman who is 6’7 or taller that we have discovered so far. He didn’t receive heavy minutes on the older team but he moves fluidly up the court. He rebounds well in his area and can score it in the paint. He shows upside and is one to track. </p>
