The Prep Hoops Circuit was back in town this weekend for the Hustle in the Sun at Inspire Court in Gilbert, AZ. There were 65 teams from the 15-17U levels.

The 17U division had tough competition including the talented ’High Major’ team who included possible future Hillcrest players for next year.

Here were some of the 17U sleepers:

2021

Jaxon Lloyd PF 6’7 Ischool of Lewisville/TX (Team ESBY 2022-1)

-A highly skilled forward who can score it inside with his left or right hand plus step away from the basket and shoot it to the 3pt line off the catch. He is a strong two-handed rebounder, he handles the ball well for position and is a good passer. He has soft hands to catch the ball and can score it through contact.

2022

[player_tooltip player_id="1076675" first="Jakwon" last="Hill"] (ABC NM 2022 Black)

-One of the top natural 'attack the basket' guards at the event. He is relentless always trying to get to the rim with his shifty handle and will score it through contact. He is a physical on-ball defender, which leads to scores on the other end. He is a capable shooter but is so fast and strong with the ball that he gets into the lane seemingly at will.

Isaac Berry CG 6’3 Little Elm/TX (Team ESBY 2022-1)

-A lefty combo guard has great size and skill. He rebounds well for position and drives and kicks it out to shooters. He has a nice pull-up off the dribble from mid-range. He can hit the 3 and plays a cerebral game. A nice sleeper from Dallas.

[player_tooltip player_id="1046034" first="Cameron" last="Lowe"] (PLUTO Prospects 2022) (Pictured)

-A sturdy framed wing shooter has some bounce. He has a good build and a nice stroke from the 3pt line. He has a consistent game. He squares up like you should and uses a quick trigger. He makes good reads to teammates and will defend on the perimeter plus will board using his strength inside.

[player_tooltip player_id="827015" first="Justin" last="Shorts"] (Westside Elite 2022)

-A powerfully built wing is tough to cover. Not many better locally then he is getting downhill. He has long arms, a football type of build and strength to go along with his handle. He can make the catch-3 plus post guards and wings up. He rebounds out of his area and can push the ball.

[player_tooltip player_id="1076673" first="Tyler" last="Heckroth"] (ABC NM 2022 National)

-Another New Mexico standout. He has surprisingly good bounce in the open court and can play above the rim. Outside of his nice athleticism, he can shoot it. He can shoot it from mid to the 3pt line off the catch and pull. He has good length and quickness to defend in space.

[player_tooltip player_id="936768" first="Tanner" last="Pate"] (NME Academy 2022)

-A rapidly improving guard has improved his fluidly with the ball and has grown a little. He is a smart player who can really shoot it. His pull-up off the dribble is more polished and has good size for position. Stock up.
