Richmond, VA - Big Ben’s Court played host to the first session of the DMVElite Super Circuit bringing in some of the top AAU teams from the DMV to face off against each other. Richmond played host to the first stop as there will be three more sessions later on. Below are some takeaways during our time in the gym on Saturday.

Boo Williams 16U Impresses

The Boo Williams 16 and under group was mighty impressive in a blowout win against District Basketball Club this past Saturday in Richmond winning by a final score of 80-35. 2023 [player_tooltip player_id="999649" first="Etienne" last="Strothers"] who is the younger brother of [player_tooltip player_id="798680" first="Allen" last="Strothers"], is the lead guard for Boo Williams and showed why he is a promising prospect. Strothers has a good feel for the game and plays with a great pace for the point guard position. 2023 [player_tooltip player_id="999635" first="Josh" last="Sime"] held it down in the post for Boo Williams finishing with 8 points and hauling in 10 boards. He was constantly active around the rim and was a lot for District to handle in the low post. 2023 [player_tooltip player_id="999629" first="Sam" last="Brannen"] led the way in scoring for Boo finishing with 19 points and shooting 7/11 from the field. It will be interesting to see how well Boo does this year on the EYBL circuit once that plays begin.

[player_tooltip player_id="904629" first="Quinn" last="Clark"] Continues To Progress

Clark would have had a good chance to have a breakout season this past year in the WCAC for Gonzaga if there was a full season but he is now taking advantage of everytime he is on the court this spring. Clark was productive again for District Basketball Club in helping them secure a win against the New World B Team, 61-51. Clark finished with 15 points while finishing 6/6 from the floor and 3/3 from the free throw line. Clark is set to have a good spring for District Basketball Club this spring and summer.

Boubacor Mbengue Is A Name To Know

2022 Boubacor Mbengue was the best find of the weekend. The 6’11 forward plays for New World and is currently enrolled at Olympus Prep. Mbengue is a high major prospect that excels at both ends of the floor for his position. He tries to finish everything with two hands and is hard to guard around the rim because of his size. Defensively, he was always talking this past Saturday and was the top rim protector at the event. Mbengue is a name that coaches need to get familiar with right now.

[player_tooltip player_id="992530" first="Trevor" last="Smith"] Shows Out

There has been a lot of talk about Smith over the past year and this past weekend was the first time I was fortunate enough to get a close up view of him. Smith is a 5’11 point guard that has a good handle which allows him to do a lot when the basketball is in his hands. He can distribute well but also score when needed. In my viewing of him he finished with 20 points on 7/14 from the floor.

[player_tooltip player_id="999618" first="Steven" last="Stinson"] Emerges

Stinson is poised to be one of the next stars out of Trinity Episcopal and showed that this past weekend during his play with Team Loaded Virginia at the DMV Elite Super Circuit. Stinson has gotten bigger and looked as dominant as ever finishing with 11 points on an efficient 5/7 from the floor.
