The Squirrels will be one of the top teams in Region-1 next season. Central Cass had a 17-5 record this season and they ended the year with a Region-1 semifinal loss to the eventual State Champions, Kindred. The Squirrels lose two great seniors with all-star point guard [player_tooltip player_id="731910" first="Max" last="Kobbervig"] and a studly big-man [player_tooltip player_id="750165" first="Joshua" last="Dixon"]. Central Cass has plenty of young talent to fill the holes, and I expect them to be a tough team again next season. I will not be surprised if they are ranked in the Top Ten before the season starts. Central Cass will be challenged outside of their Region-1 schedule. The Squirrels will have plenty of chances to prove they are a top team in North Dakota. Keep an eye on this team as they will be working hard to improve this offseason as a team and on the AAU scene. [player_tooltip player_id="1111886" first="Sam" last="Kobbervig"] is the big name for the Squirrels, he is already a dude and possesses the potential to be a special player.

Top Players

[player_tooltip player_id="1111886" first="Sam" last="Kobbervig"] (2023) |6-1 G| Central Cass – AAU team Master Basketball Academy. I really like Sam’s game. He plays with a level head and seems to always be in control. He rises to the occasion and is never afraid of taking the big shot. His handles are top-notch and his feel for the game is at a high level. Kobbervig has a sweet step-back jumper, and he can finish with finesse or power at the rim. I see him as one of the top players in Region-1 next year. Sam has the potential to be an All-State player as well.

[player_tooltip player_id="1123709" first="Jake" last="Deutsch"] (2022) |5-11 G| Central Cass – He is a fiery player that never slows down. His energy is magnificent. Jake has the potential to put up big points. Central Cass will need him to be a tough defender next season.

[player_tooltip player_id="1144577" first="Carter" last="Vrchota"] (2024) |6-0 G| Central Cass – AAU team Master Basketball Academy. He will be one of the best young guards in Region-1. I like his confidence and love his shot. He and Kobbervig will complement each other well. Carter is a deadly shooter from downtown. Carter spaces and spreads the floor. His catch and shoot ability is out of the roof. Carter will be player to look out for next season.

[player_tooltip player_id="1144578" first="Cole" last="Holzer"] (2024) |6-5 F| Central Cass – AAU team Master Basketball Academy. His height and size are intriguing. Cole is a huge threat from the outside. I like his pick-and-pop ability. He can also drill the 3 when trailing in transition. Cole’s size and shooting ability make him a difficult matchup. On defense, his length will help protect the rim. This lefty has text-book shooting form.

[player_tooltip player_id="1182829" first="Kade" last="McKinnon"] (2022) |6-2 F| Central Cass – He is coming off an injury and will be a major factor for Central Cass next season. Kade is a lefty with great feet. He is athletic and can match up well with bigger players.

[player_tooltip player_id="1182830" first="Brendan" last="Maasjo"] (2022) |6-3 F| Central Cass – He runs the show for the football team as the quarterback. Brendan is a good leader. He is long and athletic. The Squirrels will need his length on defense next season around the basket.

[player_tooltip player_id="1176203" first="Tyler" last="Cruchet"] (2024) |6-0 G| Central Cass – AAU team Master Basketball Academy. He plays hard and fast. Tyler shoots it well. His strength is a huge asset.

[player_tooltip player_id="1176208" first="Eli" last="Buhr"] (2024) |6-1 G| Central Cass – AAU team Master Basketball Academy. A youngster with deep shooting range. Eli is developing into a solid guard. Look for him to be a serious 3-point shooting threat.

[player_tooltip player_id="1176197" first="Mason" last="Bosse"] (2023) |5-10 G| Central Cass – AAU team Master Basketball Academy. He is a reliable shooter from mid-range and deep. His defense is improving constantly. He should improve greatly over the offseason.
