Border Battle: 17U All-Tournament Team

<p>The Border Battle Tournament was put on by ECI and West Central United. The games were played at Concordia Moorhead and Discovery Middle School in Fargo. Teams were filled with excellent talent. I checked out action mainly at Concordia but I did stop into Discovery as well. Below are my All-Tournament Teams, let us take a look at the best players I saw over the weekend.</p> <p><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>1st Team</strong></span></p> <p><a href="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2021/05/hoskinsk.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-1200955" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2021/05/hoskinsk-225x300.jpg" alt="" width="225" height="300" /></a></p> <p><strong>Kristin Hoskins (2022) |5-11 G| Alexandria</strong> - This top-flight athlete is committed to the Gophers for football. It is easy to see why Alexandria played in the AAA MN State Championship this year. Kristin is a very talented individual. He made things look easy in the Border Battle. He and the Cardinals won the 17U tournament. Hoskins scored at will, took care of the ball, broke ankles, and set up teammates for easy baskets. I had never watched him play before, and I left impressed. Cook can handle and pass it like a guard. He slashed to the basket for buckets and he also posted up on the block. Jacob scored plenty of points off O-board putbacks. He swatted and altered shots. Cook also stepped out and hit 3-pointers. I am expecting him to dominate with his MN high school team next year in A-ball. </p> <p><a href="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2021/04/paineparks-crop-788x518-1618021270.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-1165790" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2021/04/paineparks-crop-788x518-1618021270-300x197.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="197" /></a></p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="812222" first="Paine" last="Parks"] (2022) |6-3 G/F| ECI Prospects/Grand Forks Red River</strong> He was the biggest and strongest guard this weekend. His size as a wing is unparalleled. Parks was knocking down jump shots at a consistent rate. I really enjoyed watching him use his left hand when finishing in traffic. Paine is also a physical rebounder. He has the potential to be a very good defender. </p> <p><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-1201303" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2021/05/Dominic_Dosmann_Varsity_11-crop-1200x788-1621917620-300x197.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="197" /></p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="812221" first="Dominic" last="Dosmann"] (2022) |6-8 F| ECI Prospects/West Fargo Sheyenne</strong> - He was Mr. Steady throughout the weekend. Dosmann was a timely scorer. When ECI needed a big basket he showed up. Dominic plays hard and makes few mistakes. He rebounded well all weekend and challenged shots in every game. Dominic passed the ball and found the open man like a skilled guard. I like how he remains composed when he is doubled or pressured. He stays ball strong and gets the ball to shooters. He drilled a few 3’s, hit multiple mid-range shots and finished at the rim very well. Ian finishes at the rim with strength and craftiness. He also did a phenomenal job rebound all weekend. Especially for a 6’1" guard. That takes grit, toughness, and persistence.
