This past weekend, some of the state’s top AAU programs competed in events in both Boise, Houston, and Southern California. Catching up on more film and chatting with more club/college coaches here are some more top performers.

[player_tooltip player_id="1079528" first="Peter" last="Burke"] (2022 Tualatin)

Burke switched over to International Elite recently and has actually been busy with football the past couple of months. But in the action we saw in SoCal, the 6-foot-4 junior picked up right where he left off on the court. Using his size and strength on the perimeter, he was able to create space and contact and ended up being a foul-drawing machine. He was a factor on the boards as well.

[player_tooltip player_id="857354" first="Noah" last="Ogoli"] (2022 Tualatin)

Ogoli was the de facto leader of last year’s International Elite 16U squad and this time around he has a similar role with even more talent around him. The point guard continues to show the ability to hit from three but was also able to knock down some nice one-to-two dribble pull-up jumpers. We didn’t get to see the game but International Elite coach Allan Brown notes that Ogoli really played well all tournament long.

[player_tooltip player_id="857371" first="Logan" last="Thebiay"] (2022 Wilsonville)

Another guy who is new to the International Elite program, Thebiay provided presence with his size and strength in the post. What stood out most to us about the 6-foot-8 junior is that he seems to have improved his mobility and athleticism as he really ran the court well and fought hard for rebounds on both ends. Thebiay has a soft touch on his shot inside and Brown notes that he was close to averaging a double-double.

Moroni Roberts (2023 Yamhill-Carlton)

Despite not really having a play run for him, Roberts piled up the points against Eastern Washington Elite-Black by getting out in transition and really hitting the offensive glass. While the 6-foot-5 forward did the majority of his scoring by finishing around the hoop, he also stepped out and knocked down some perimeter shots. Roberts has tremendous endurance and can seemingly run the court all day long.

Malachi Roberts (2023 Yamhill-Carlton)

After struggling with his shot in the first couple of games with A-Train Oregon Magic Purple, Roberts was able to showcase some of his sweet three-point shooting stroke against Eastern Washington Elite-Black. The 6-foot-7 forward used his ball-handling and passing skills to find open teammates and his length disrupted shot attempts on the defensive end.

[player_tooltip player_id="964556" first="Colby" last="Wood"] (2022 Butte Falls)

The diminutive guard can knock down threes in bunches as well as anyone in the state and he simply caught fire against Eastern Washingotn Elite-Black, hitting five in the first half. Give Wood a few inches of space and the lefty has enough time to get off his quick release. He has that so-called parking lot range and was hitting shots from past the NBA three-point line.

[player_tooltip player_id="857352" first="Dezman" last="Baker"] (2022 Mountainside)

Baker continues to improve as an outside shooter as he knocked down some open shots, but where the 6-foot-4 junior really made an impression on the defensive end. He used his length and motor to play some lockdown D and one D-II coach we chatted with believes that Baker has the potential to play in the GNAC with continued development.

Leo DeBruhl (2021 Seattle Academy-WA)

DeBruhl has been a nice addition to the Oregon Prospects program and he was arguably the team’s best player all weekend. While heading things up at the point, the Lake Oswego native showed himself as a true floor leader, not only with his play but also visibly directing teammates on both ends. Offensively, he pretty much did it all, scoring at all three levels while also setting the table for teammates for scores.
