Continue ReadingAfter going 3-1 at the MADEHoops Midwest Mania event in Indianapolis, Team Final EYBL moved into the No. 1 spot on Prephoops.com’s rankings of southeastern Pennsylvania 15U grassroots teams. Therefore we thought it would be a great time to take a deep dive into Team Final EYBL’s loaded roster.
Below are individual player breakdowns for head coach Nate Hodge’s Team Final EYBL roster which is stacked with DI prospects.
Luke Bevilacqua – 6’9′ / St. Augustine Prep (NJ) / Power Forward: At 6’9” and 230 pounds, Bevilacqua is a skilled prospect who operates on the interior and does it very effectively. Bevilacqua owns good footwork, can establish position on the low blocks and then score with either hand. His size combined with his tenacious streak make Bevilacqua a force on the glass. The big fella is also a solid rim protector. Every team needs a “big” who can provide a physical presence at both ends of the floor and Bevilacqua is that element for Team Final ‘s 15U squad. The scary part is Bevilacqua has only been playing organized ball for 2 or 3 years.
Elijah Brown – 6’3” / St. Augustine Prep (NJ) / Shooting Guard: Brown is athletic two-guard who is capable of playing above the rim. During the 2020-21 he was the 6th man for the Hermits who on numerous occasions was thrust into starting lineup. With his length and vertical leap, Brown is an excellent rebounding guard (4.3 rbg.) and one of the best defenders on St. Augustine’s roster. This past winter he also posted 5.8 ppg. to go along with 3.1 assists per night. Hermits Head Coach Paul Rodio said that Brown, “Is expected to be one of the best players in our league next year.”
Nick Coval Nick Coval 6'1" | CG Parkland | 2024 State PA – 6’1” / Parkland / Shooting Guard: One of the elite 3-point shooters in Pennsylvania’s Class of 2024, Coval started for Parkland this season and averaged 16.8 ppg. Noteworthy performances from his freshman season include scoring 23 pts vs William Allen HS and 20 against Dieruff. In addition to his lethal shooting, Coval is great with the dribble, can create scoring opportunities for others and has a high basketball IQ. Parkland Head Coach Andrew Stephens had the following to say about this rising star, “He has a very bright future in basketball. He makes all the other players around him better.”
Moses Hipps Moses Hipps 6'4" | SG AZ Compass Prep | 2024 State AZ – 6’2” / Archbishop Carroll / Combo Guard: An elite level 3-point shooter with unlimited range, Hipps started for Carroll this past season and had a good deal of success scoring the ball (13.6 ppg.). Hipps recorded a career high 27 points vs Father Judge. Prior to that outburst, Hipps drained four 3PAs (4/8) and tallied 20 points total in Carroll’s win over St. Joe’s Prep. A 2nd team Class 4A All-State selection, Hipps excels at moving without the ball which makes him very difficult to guard. Complimenting Hipps’ outside shooting is his ability fill the wings on the break and his elite ball handling skills.
Mike “Deuce” Jones – 6’0” / Trenton CA (NJ) / Combo Guard: Jones is an athletic and tenacious guard who by the end of the 2020-21 season had pushed his way into TCA’s starting lineup. Jones (12 ppg.) can really shoot the rock and thus helps space the floor for any team he is on. Back in February, Jones posted 15 points vs. NJ state power Life Center Academy. “Deuce” also has a high basketball IQ and is defensive menace with his on ball pressure.
Jaden Murray Jaden Murray 6'7" | PF Archbishop Ryan | 2024 State PA – 6’6” / Archbishop Ryan / Wing:A member of the 2020-21 Ryan varsity team that put together a post season run all the way to the 5A state championship game, Murray has the potential to develop into a solid DI prospect as a three and D wing player. Murray is long, athletic as hell and plays above the rim. Last weekend at the MADEHoops Midwest Mania event in Indianapolis Murray had a couple of plays where he flushed the ball with authority on a defenders head. This past winter at Ryan, he showed a solid jumper as well, so Murray can do more than just dunk on guys. Team Final EYBL 15U Head Coach Nate Hodge sees a bright future for Murray, “He just turned 15 the other day and has a chance to be really good. He’s a wing /forward with a lot of upside.”
Thomas Sorber – 6’9” / Trenton CA (NJ) / Power Forward: A big man who owns a wingspan longer than his height (6’9”) and large hands, Sorber catches everything that is thrown to him. Once he has received the rock, Sorber can absorb contact and finish at the rim. For a 15-year old, Sorber establishes position on the low blocks well and can then score with his back to the basket. He has also displayed range on his jumper out to the 3-point line. At the other end of the floor, Sorber contests shots well.
Amir Williams Amir Williams 6'6" | SF Neuman-Goretti | 2024 State PA – 6’5” / Neumann Goretti / Wing: College coaches should be salivating over Williams who is still growing physically as well as developing his skills. Williams fits the highly coveted role of an athletic stretch-4 type who hits corner threes. Williams runs the floor very well and can also take the ball to the basket in the half court. If his game continues to develop at the current pace, Williams will be an excellent offensive option for Team Final EYBL this summer. On the defensive end, his length makes him a tremendous weak-side shot blocker. However it’s his versatility (He can guard 1 thru 5.) and instincts that make Williams a plus team defender. Neumann Goretti head coach Carl Arrigale told me that Williams, “Has a great work ethic and an upside that is tremendous. Amir has yet to realize how good he can be.”
Robert Wright III Robert Wright III 6'0" | PG Montverde Academy (FL) | 2024 State #35 Nation FL – 5’10” / Neumann-Goretti / Combo Guard: Wright is a super quick and versatile guard. His tremendous handles and outstanding court vision make him an elite floor general. Still, he can shoot the 3-ball off the dribble or pick action which allows him to slide over to the 2-spot. Wright excels on the fast break and has no issues finishing in traffic. He is a freak of an athlete who this past season averaged 6 ppg. and shot 42% from deep on NG’s varsity team. Neumann Goretti head coach Carl Arrigale had the following to say on Wright III, “He’s already an elite level player and I am excited for the next couple of years with him.”
