A terrific weekend of hoops in Kansas City wrapped up this Sunday with a ton of high quality matchups, big time players, and competitive spirit through the roof. Let’s take a look at some of the notes from the guard spot on this weekend at the #PHLive.

[player_tooltip player_id="946244" first="Luke" last="Williams"], Unsigned Senior, 6’ Point Guard, Rise and Grind: Williams help paced the Unsigned Senior group in the backcourt and showed off his skill set at the lead guard spot. He showed off some great passing in transition that led to dunks and layups for his guys, got into the paint and got to his nice package finishing the ball.

[player_tooltip player_id="889532" first="Kyren" last="Angelo"], Unsigned Senior, 5’6 Point Guard, Rise and Grind: He was quick paced as normal, pushing the break and putting a ton of pressure on defenses. His ball pressure and intensity on the defensive side of the floor are game changers.

Lazel Evans, 2022, 6’ Point Guard, Midwest Bounce Black: In the first tournament for the new program, Evans was the standout in the back court. He is shifty both in the half court and in transition and can get into gaps off the dribble. He throws really good back door passes and kicks ahead up the floor. Evans also can score the ball at a nice clip, highlighted with his 21 point game this weekend.

[player_tooltip player_id="1146282" first="Daron" last="Davis"], 2023, 5’10 Point Guard, Tulsa Hawks White 2023: Davis has shown multiple weekends that he can be a provider in the back court in a variety of ways, especially in the distributing and scoring game. This weekend was no different posting both a double digit scoring efforts and a 7 assist game during the weekend. He is a tremendous playmaker and will only continue to get better. He is a really nice piece for a high quality Tulsa Hawks White team.

[player_tooltip player_id="1080170" first="Kobe" last="Smith"], 6’1 Guard, Oz Elite-Haynes 2023 (Pictured): Smith helped run the show for the talented group and he has some take over material in his game, especially scoring the basketball. He has a legit pull up jumper and 3 ball, and possesses a nice change of pace with his handle. The Haynes group has a ton of playmakers with the ball in their hands, and Smith is for sure one of them. I love his quick burst and ability to change directions with the ball on a dime.
