Lyndon blew through the Flint Hills League last year and dominated the post-season awards.

Here’s a look back, and a look forward, for the Flint Hills League:

Top Team: Lyndon

The loaded Tigers got dropped in the semifinals by Hillsboro 51-45. The six point margin was closer than the nine points by which Hillsboro beat Wabaunsee in the finals. Lyndon finished 19-5 and did balance and athleticism.

League Player of the Year: [player_tooltip player_id="1134453" first="Miles" last="Kitselman"], Lyndon

Kitselman was the monster in the middle for the Tigers. There were lots of talented players around him, so he didn’t always put up big numbers. But the 6-foot-5 Kitselman was the dominant athlete on the floor in almost every contest. He could score in the lane, dominate players of all sizes, and run the floor like a beast. He averaged 11.9 points and 7.7 boards despite spending time on the bench during blowouts.

Senior Star: Dayton Logan, Mission Valley

The 6-foot-5 post player averaged 14.4 points and 8.5 rebounds as a senior. He was a physical and fundamentally sound big who led the Vikings after they lost a lot to graduation a year ago.

Other Top Grads (in alphabetical order):

Jarod Crawford, Central Heights

[player_tooltip player_id="1134452" first="Luke" last="Detwiler"], Lyndon

Owen Eidman, Chase County

Cade Fischer, West Franklin

[player_tooltip player_id="1134426" first="Gunnar" last="Fort"], Osage City

Top Returner: [player_tooltip player_id="1146292" first="Landon" last="Boss"], sophomore, Osage City

Boss put up some huge numbers as a sophomore. It will be interesting to see how Fort’s graduation affects him next season. Boss focused this season on using his power to make plays as a guard/forward. The 6-foot-1 Boss knows how to use his body to get to the goal and make plays.

Other Top Returners (in alphabetical order):

Joel Deters, junior, Mission Valley

Braden Heins, junior, Nothern Heights

Kellen Marshall, Council Grove

Darian Massey, junior, Lyndon

Toby Miller, junior, Lyndon

Trey Rogers, sophomore, West Franklin

Players to Watch this Summer (in alphabetical order):

Jackson Biggs, sophomore, Lyndon:

Biggs has the kind of frame and skill set that jumps out at you. He’s a long 6-foot-5 athlete who can handle the ball, shoot and run the floor. He’s got loads of potential that wasn’t fully realized due to the depth and talent on the Tigers last year. Watch for this guy to really take off.

[player_tooltip player_id="1076401" first="Koen" last="Hula"], junior, Council Grove:

Hula went into his junior year as one of the league’s top players. He had been a breakout sophomore with 13.1 points and 9.4 rebounds a game. He was really good again with 12.8 points and 8.3 boards, but Council Grove struggled. The 6-foot-4 Hula has the power and skills to be a dominant player. Summer could help him realize that potential.

Kaedin Massey, freshman, Northern Heights:

Massey came in as a big 6-foot-7 freshman who was destined to get minutes early on. But regardless of your physical gifts, varsity ball is tough for any freshman. Summer can help Massey grow into his body and hone his skills. If he develops, he could be the top big man in the league very soon.
