ECI 16u Selects Schafer: Team Overview

<p>This team is a first-rate group of players from Western Minnesota and North Dakota. I see nothing but success in the near future for this ECI squad. </p> <p><strong>Team Notes from Coach <em>Ian Schafer</em>:</strong></p> <p>“My squad is full of guys who know how to work and play hard. These guys all come from well-coached high school programs and are eager to compete on both ends of the floor. Our backbone will be defense, we have a lot of guys who know how to defend as a team and get after it. Offensively we will play at a high pace with great spacing, allowing us to get into the paint and create shots off strong drive and kicks. I can’t wait to have a full summer with these guys and get after it!”</p> <p><strong><u>Roster</u></strong></p> <p><em>Comments from Coach</em> <strong><em>Ian Schafer</em></strong>:</p> <p><strong>Kyler Card (2023) |5-11 G| Hawley (MN) </strong>- Kyler is a strong lead guard who makes plays for himself and his teammates. He can score at all 3 levels and makes great decisions when he gets in an offensive rhythm. He knows how to run the show.</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1169979" first="Gannon" last="Swanson"] (2023) |5-9 G| Bismarck </strong>- Gannon is a well-skilled ballhandler and playmaker with the ability to knock down shots. He sees the floor well and knows how great team defense played. I am very impressed with how vocal he is with his teammates on the floor.</p> <p><strong>Drew Sheeley (2023) |6-0 G|</strong> <strong>DGF (MN) </strong>- Drew is a guy who can rattle off a quick 10 points for our team whether that is finishing at the rim or hitting outsides shots. He is going to be a great spark plug for us on both ends of the floor.</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1139277" first="Aiden" last="Jacobson"] (2023) |6-0 G| Valley City</strong> - Aiden plays with a very high motor and gives 100% effort all game. He does not shy away from any defensive assignment and hits big shots in big moments. He is a guy that can kickstart his team and make winning plays.</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1169991" first="Jack" last="Kane"] (2023) |5-11 G| Bismarck Century </strong>- Jack’s best asset is his shooting ability. If left open behind the arc there is a high chance, he will knock it down. Jack is a hard worker defensively as well and has a great understanding of defensive rotations.</p> <p><strong>Gerald Melin (2023) |6-5 F| Red Lake County (MN) </strong>- Gerald will be our do it all big man, he has great length and athleticism. He also can step outside and hit the 3-ball. He will help us tremendously offensively and defensively.</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1170009" first="Aiden" last="Sagaser"] (2023) |6-3 F| Bismarck Legacy </strong>- Aiden will be a great piece for us, especially on defense. His length and athleticism give him the ability to guard multiple positions.
