With will be highlighting three players who are similar in class and position. Here are some quick thoughts, stat breakdowns and film. Today, we are looking at class of 2022 guards.

Stats: 14.6 pts, 3.6 reb, 4.4 ast, 1.6 stl
Thoughts: Klaiber is a shifty guard who can finish around most defenders in the paint. He has a good ability to shoot from distance, but he makes a living around the basket. His quick first step allows him to take advantage of most matchups, whether it is for a bucket in the paint, or leading to a step-back jumper. He has good ball handling skills and passing ability, but at times he can have tunnel vision when he drives. I would like to see him find the open teammate at times instead of forcing a shot around the rim. Overall, Klaiber is a tough kid and a terrific finisher who doesn’t lack confidence.

Sullivan | 2022
State

– 5’11 PG 2022 – Sullivan (IN)
Stats: 17.2 pts, 4.8 reb, 5.3 ast, 1.8 stl
Thoughts: Kelley is a bit undersized at the guard position but has toughness and good ability to use his body around the rim. He isn’t going to blow you away with his speed or quickness, but he has a good handle and the ability to change directions quickly to attack his defender. Once he is in the paint, he is tough to stop. Kelley’s shooting ability opens things up for the rest of his game and with good range and a quick release, it is difficult to contest his shot. He doesn’t have much of a mid-range game and that sometimes hurts him if he’s attack the rim. Overall, he has a great mix of passing ability, vision and shot making.

– 6’5 SG 2022 – Evansville Harrison (IN)
Stats: 17.7 pts, 5.3 reb, 2.5 ast, 1.7 stl
Thoughts: Summers has very good size and length for an off guard. His athleticism sticks out from the moment he gets on the court. While he can play both on and off of the ball, his planking ability for his teammates is still developing. He can finish over most defenders at the rim and does a good job using his length to finish over taller defenders. Defensively, Summers can be a lockdown defender when he wants. He has all of the tools, but sometimes he can get a bit jumpy and try to jump the passing lanes for an easy transition opportunity. Overall, Summers is developing his playmaking skills but has a very well-rounded offensive game from his outside shooting, to finishing in the lane.
