This invite only individual showcase event featured elite 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024 prospects from various states. The 2021 and 2022 prospects were grouped into teams as where the 2023 s and 2024s. The event featured a round robin game format followed by Top 20 “all-star” games for each of the two divisions.
Below is a review of some of the 2024 prospects from Pennsylvania who participated in the 1st annual CheckRock 40 for 40 Invitational.
Elijah Duval Elijah Duval 6'2" | SG Martin County | 2024 #118 Nation FL – 6’3” / Msgr. Bonner / Point Guard: The Russell Westbrook comparisons for Duval are very accurate. Duval is an explosive prospect who plays aggressive, downhill basketball at the offensive end. His scoring ability is excellent and he can be a force in transition. Duval will run with Team Final AAU this spring/summer.
Khaafiq Myers Khaafiq Myers 5'10" | PG Neumann-Goretti | 2024 State PA – 5’11” / Neumann-Goretti / Combo Guard: In 2020-21, Myers was a varsity reserve at NG who showed flashes of tremendous upside. Myers is quick athlete who runs the floor very well and can score the ball in a variety if ways. He displays excellent lateral movement and quick hands. On the grassroots circuit Myers plays for Team Final Fidonce.
Toby Ojukwu – 6’1”/ Roman Catholic / Point Guard: When you combine Ojukwu’s strong frame and physical style with his high level quickness you get a floor general who is difficult to contain. He plays hard and with an extra level of energy that standouts from the rest of the players on the court.
Malachi Palmer – 6’4” / Central Dauphin / Combo Guard: The first thing you notice about Palmer is that he appears taller than his listed height of 6’4”. The second thing you notice is that for a freshman Palmer is a very complete player. Most 2024 prospects have gaping holes in their game, Palmer does not. While there are definitely some finer points of the game that Palmer can improve on, he does not have a weakness on the basketball court. This Team Thrill AAU prospect has the ability to get buckets from anywhere and anytime is eye popping.
Amir Speights Amir Speights 6'4" | PF Constitution | 2024 State PA – 6’3”/ Cardinal O’Hara / Point Guard: This past winter Speights (8.8 ppg.) had a very nice impact for Cardinal O’Hara and on Saturday he continued to prove that he can score in bunches. He owns text book shooting mechanics and showed range from several feet behind the arc. It will be interesting to see if Speights remains at O’Hara which previous to the 2020-21 season saw several high level prospects transfer to other schools.
Robert Wright III Robert Wright III 6'0" | PG Montverde Academy (FL) | 2024 State #35 Nation FL – 5’10” / Neumann-Goretti / Combo Guard: Wright is a super quick and versatile guard. His tremendous handles and outstanding court vision make him an elite floor general. He can shoot the 3-ball off the dribble or pick action which allows him to slide over to the 2-spot. Wright excels on the fast break and has no issues finishing in traffic. He plays AAU ball for Team Delaware.
