All 12 teams in this division played at an extremely high level and could have even competed in a higher age group at most tournaments. Here is a list of six of the best scorers from the 12U division.
Keylan Jones Texas Summitt (featured image) – Keylan Jones was a walking bucket for the entire tournament. He was the best slasher in the tournament and he uses his quickness and finishing ability to run up the scoreboard. He may have been the best downhill scorer at the tournament and always looks to score. He also gets to the free-throw line often and also has a nice floater.
David Lund 5’10” F JB White Elite – Dominant. That is the exact word that describes David Lunn’s performance on the offensive end at the Sooner State Showdown. He had a 30-point performance in JB White Elite’s championship loss against Texas Summitt and could not be stopped. Lunn has the perfect frame to dominate anyone in his path and he finished around the basket with an array of different moves. He showed off his euro step, hop step, and jump stop and he didn’t miss much once he got into the paint.
John Lungeni G Texas Summitt – John Lungeni scored at all three levels all weekend long and was a major piece to Texas Summitt’s championship run. He knocked down some threes, got to the bucket, and scored well in transition. Lungeni also has a nice floater and has the ability to finish through contact.
Oliver Wallace 5’1″ G PWP – Oliver Wallace is an all-around scorer and led his team’s offense tremendously in the game that I got to see him play. The best part about his offensive game is his ability to shoot and he can score from mid-range and three-point range alike. He has a quick trigger and the offense was centered around him.
Brandon Wright G Next Page Force – Wright can score in bunches and his jumper from downtown and mid-range looked excellent off the catch. He has a strong off-hand and made floaters and layups with either hand. His balanced scoring attack in one of the games I watched Next Page Force compete intrigued me tremendously as he can score from almost anywhere.
Caden Miller 5’2″ G JB White Elite – Caden Miller is a pure shotmaker and can knock down deep threes from anywhere behind the arc. The biggest thing that caught my eye about Miller’s game is his on-court awareness. He fills in gaps extremely well and knows his spots. He makes things easy for the other guards around him as he drifts to the corners when needed and just plays the role of a knockdown shooter for his team.
