All 12 teams in this division played at an extremely high level and could have even competed in a higher age group at most tournaments. Here is a list of 15 of the best players from the stacked 12U division at the Sooner State Showdown.
1st Team
David Lunn 5’10” F JB White Elite (featured image) – David Lunn was one of the most dominant players in the gym for any age group. On championship Sunday, Lunn finished with 30 points in JB White Elite’s 74-72 loss to Texas Summitt and he kept his team in the game for its entirety. He is a strong finisher around the basket and no one had the strength to prevent him from backing them down. Lunn is also a solid defender and a good shot blocker. He did it all for his JB White Elite Team.
Keylan Jones G Texas Summitt – Keylan Jones is a great scorer that excels at getting to the basket and using a combination of floaters and layups to score. He has excellent quickness and he uses his athleticism to get out and run in transition and go score. In Texas Summitt’s win over JB White Elite, Jones finished with 25 points and seemed to be at the free throw line every other possession. He brings great hustle and was one of the best guard-rebounders at the tournament. Jones crashed the offensive glass tenaciously and scored a good amount of second chance points. He also played the passing lanes perfectly and had a bunch of steals.
Brandon Smith 5’4″ G We R One – Brandon Smith had an excellent performance in We R One’s 62-49 win over Drive Nation Houston and looked great getting to the basket. He was the quickest player on the court and was able to score in transition with ease. He is also a solid on-ball defender and tipped multiple passes.
John Lungeni G Texas Summitt – John Lungeni and Keylan Jones formed an elite duo for Texas Summitt and led them all the way to win the Platinum Bracket. Lungeni is a three-level scorer and he scored 21 points in the championship game. He is a good shooter off the dribble or off the catch, excellent in transition, and a great defender. Like his teammate Jones, he is a great defender in the passing lanes and would sometimes turn his own steals into points on the other end.
Christian Williams 5’9″ F Next Page Force – Williams can get to the basket whenever he wants and was one of the best point forwards in the class of 2027. He finished with 18 points in Next Page Force’s 66-61 win over PWP-Family and also pulled a good amount of rebounds due to his effort and energy.
