The Arizona Competition Classic was held at Apollo High School in Glendale, Arizona this past weekend. Sneakersteal is grassroots basketball program from Northern California with a roster of next level prospects from the Bay Area. They were one the teams that made the trip to play in the Desert at this event. Prep Hoops NorCal was in the gym evaluating this group. Here’s our take.

[player_tooltip player_id="1113026" first="Harrison" last="Carrington"] 6’6 Guard/Wing. Sacred Heart Prep HS, Atherton CA. 2021

A versatile prospect on the offensive side of the ball. He’s a long slender player, who handles the ball often for this team. He sees the court well in transition, and on the wings. Carrington used his body well getting into the paint for jumpers, and spin moves with balance, going up strong off two. He has good range on his shot, hitting 3’s in the corner and the wings. Bulking up a bit will help.

[player_tooltip player_id="947389" first="Isaiah" last="Kerr"] 6’3 Point Guard. St. Francis HS, Mountain View, CA. 2022

Kerr is a fast rising prospect in the class of 2022. The point guard has grown an inch, or two, and has bulked up a bit. He continues to sharpen his skill set as a facilitator, yet creating his own scoring opportunities getting into the paint, using floaters, jumpers, and reverses to get inside for finishes from the wings, and in transition. His shot from 3 is improved. Kerr is a good athlete that can defend multiple positions.

[player_tooltip player_id="1113023" first="Garret" last="Keyhani"] 6’8 Forward. Junipero Serra HS, San Mateo, CA. 2022

Keyhani is a good sized prospect that’s going to fill out his 6’8 frame. He has a good upside. He’s active, and is a good worker when he’s in the post area. He has work to do nonetheless, his footwork is decent, his long arms allow him to challenge shots inside. He goes after rebounds, and takes it back up strong through contact. Keyhani showed he can work from the wings also hitting 3’s in the corner and wings on the catch and shoot. His handles, and passing were good while on the perimeter.

[player_tooltip player_id="946915" first="Calvin" last="Mader Clark"] 6’5 Wing. Hillsdale HS, San Mateo, CA. 2022

Mader Clark set the nets on fire when we saw his first game on Saturday, I lost count he may have hit at least five or more three’s, with a back to back in one sequence. I won’t put the label of shooter on him just yet, because I’ve seen him work the baseline, and get to the basket from the wings, and transition. I will say he’s an improved shooter. His handles can use some polishing to add balance to his game.

[player_tooltip player_id="947392" first="Vince" last="Barringer"] 6’8 Forward. St. Francis HS, Mountain View, CA. 2022

Barringer is a big body forward, with a good understanding of the game, and what he can do right now. Not real fast but he gets up and down the court okay. He’ll spot up in the corner, or wings for shots, and trail for spot up 3’s. He has good range, and can hit from 3. He has work to do on the rebounding end, but his size , and presence are notable on the court, especially when he hits outside shot. He’s an improving prospect. Any improvement on the boards his stock will rise.

[player_tooltip player_id="747087" first="Harlan" last="Banks"] 6’3 Guard/Wing. St. Francis HS, Mountain View, CA. 2022

Banks was the most athletic in this group, which opens up all kinds of possibilities for this prospect if he continues to develops his basketball skill set. He has hops, at times rising effortlessly. He runs the court, he hit a few shots in the long and short corner, he did a nice job attacking from the baseline. He can be a top defender when he’s locked in.

[player_tooltip player_id="1119277" first="Zion" last="Sensley"] 6’8 Freshman. Riordan HS, San Francisco, CA. 2024

We’re not surprised anymore when we see Freshman(2024) that hold their own, and contribute to a Varsity program. We’ve seen Senley back to back weekends in Arizona, with his high school, and now with his club team. He’s a prospect standing at 6’8 with tools that can separate him from the pack in the future, he wasn’t always successful in what he was trying to accomplish, nevertheless he’s a 2024 that needs to be watched.

[player_tooltip player_id="946524" first="Robert" last="Vaihola"] 6’8 Forward, Riordan HS, San Francisco, CA. 2021

There’s not a lot more we can say about this unsigned Senior that hasn’t already been said, except he did his usual work rebounding, and using his strong body defending the post. Okay there is more. He showed good movement putting the ball on the floor attacking when he played on the perimeter. He’s hitting that 3 shot at the top.
